  • Blue lights vs clear lights

I am about to buy a set of Narva 225's but can't decide on Blue or Clear. I don't know the advantages or disadvantages... Any help welcome.

    Thanks Steph

Don't take this as gospel, but white light will be slightly brighter and reach a bit further. Blue light is a more natural colour giving you better visibility closer.
    That's my take on it

I'm putting IPF's with halogen bulbs on tomorrow and am getting the blue covers, supposed to be like the HID lights. Will know more tomorrow night.

I have the IPF's and when new, I had some of their blue covers. Didn't like them. They block out too much light in my opinion, swapped them for clears.

If you look at the lightforce blue covers they are a lot lighter than the IPF ones!

Sounds like a sales pitch. Don't waste your time with the blue covers. Convert them to HID later if you're not happy.

If your after good lights, just go HID from the start, I got the Narva 225 HID, and they just Sh*t over everything else.

Don't go blue, i am not happy with mine as i was testing them last night and u could hardly notice the difference between normal HB and with them on. I am sure the old narva 175's were better.

Have a read of this before installing anything with a blue tinge (Greater than 5000K)

                http://wordpress.mrreid.org/2010/12/...t-seeing-blue/

Basically the human eye isn't designed to see blue very well which makes it a poor colour for driving lights.

The greater the Kelvin, the whiter the light becomes, but only up to a point, because after about 5000K, the light starts to go blue.
This does become dangerous at night on wet roads, as the road absorbs light when wet, and if you have a blue tinge to the light, you end up with very little light on the surface of the road.

I had the IPF HIDs with Amber covers, good to just take the glare off and highlight signs etc
Now I have the Lightforce HIDs with Amber covers and all is well still prefer them over clear
The Blue in HID seems to make little difference, but halogen it gives a whiter clearer light just limits the distance a little, i found with IPF.
