EVAKOOL have just released their new range of fridges which look exactly the same as the eBay spec one that Newbie purchased only they come with a 5year warranty.

      http://www.australiandirect.com.au/p...fridge-freezer

Doesn't say anything about a cover though, so I'd expect that they don't come with one.

Anyone outside of VIC is better off buying the Evakool one and having the 5 year warranty from a reputable company. To get the EBay one to Perth would cost $629. The Evakool has free delivery Australia wide.

        Good find Mumsrig!

Which also looks exactly the same as the Ironman (apart from colour), look at the grill, lid, input panel and controller.
I think they are all Kreiger fridges.

The Ironman is a nice fridge, same 5 year warranty.
          Comes with a cover too.

Agreed, although the IRONMAN definately has it's own housing as the lid and housing have been embosed with their logo and branding into the plastic, which is a nice touch. There are alot more retailers of IRONMAN products around the traps to, so if you did have a warranty concern it wouldn't be so much of an issue I wouldn't think.

I only found 1x place in Perth that stocked the EVAKOOL Travelmate when I was looking into them. All their other retailers simply didn't carry that range. But this particular fridge is different again, so it might pop up at BCF and other bigger retailers.

For people who have bought a cheap fridge (maybe Chinese or other) and have used it for a while now; how are they going and are they still a good buy? What brand is it??

Just bought one of the cheap fridges on eBay and have it running in the kitchen for the last 3 days and it is working fine on 240v: still have to do some testing in the car on 12v though.
It looks exactly like this one but quite a lot cheaper; even the same colour:

What temperature do you run them on??

I have the fridge in the kitchen running and I am writing down the temp shown on the display and the actual temp inside as I have put a thermometer inside.
Now I know that the outside temp will affect it and I also know that how much is actually in the fridge will make an enormous difference to how it cools and how it holds its temperature BUT what is a good starting point??
At the moment I have noticed that when the temp on the display is showing -03, it is 0(zero) degrees inside at the bottom. When the display is showing -06, the inside temp is -4. Now the fridge is empty and the outside temp is only about 24 degrees.
                      Any ideas??

Just an update on this cheap Chinese fridge that I bought earlier this year. We have now had 3 trips away this year using it and have just returned from a 5 week trip to Cooktown and back and the fridge sat in the back of the car running on the aux. battery for every day except for about 3 nights when I ran it on 240v power. I run it at 0 degrees and the beer was very cold and so were all the other things put in there over the time. So far the fridge was cheap and it is working perfectly; what more would I want!!
