Hello To Everyone.
I joined a few weeks ago, but I have been lurking around here for a couple of months on-and-off reading heaps and getting info to help me buy my first Prado. Thanks to everyone for sharing info and helping each other out.
I am still looking for my first Prado in Brisbane, and have seen some really nice units for sale but out of my price bracket as well as some not-so-good examples. Guess i will have to keep looking. My ideal Prado?
2004 onwards 120 series with 5sp Auto
Petrol
VX (because of the upgraded safety features only over the GXL)
As low kilometers as possible.
NOT black.
Nudge bar if fitted, but not that important if it already has a bullbar or nothing.
Still searching - I have 2 to look at this week-end, one private sale for around $25k and the other a dealer. The dealer is $26k but has 245000kms on the clock so I'm a bit hesitant.
I'll jump in and put my 2cents in wherever - I have a background of auto electrical and radio communications and currently work in the auto electrical for mine vehicles field supplying to people like TJM etc.
Cheers,
Justin.2005 VX V6

Thanks for the welcome Hazza.
I have never heard of a Option Pack 2 on a GXL - will definitley keep an eye out for them.
I work for a company that imports very high-end LED and HID lighting into Aus, so if anyone wants advice or something they are more than welcome to ask.
Cheers,

Hi all,
I've been working my way through this site for a few weeks now.
I had a 07 GXL as my work vehicle for 2 years before leaving the job. Was a great rig and we did a bit in it, especially on our RDO's up through the Pilbara. We had these setup with bullbars, hella spot lights, UHF and phone kits, dual spares tyres, bw drawers, 40L engel and 50mm lift kits.
I ordered a 2013 VX today so I'm glad to be back. I won't take delivery until Feb so have between now and then to plan the mods.
Cheers.

Hi All,
Just joined the site after purchasing a 2009 Prado. Its stock standard other then the BFG AT tyres I had them put on before they sold it, only done 40k so is in good nick. Just spending lots of time reading what i can do to it if Im allowed. Trying to work out satnav problems at the moment - (no voice while driving) but enjoy the car after our 2001 model. Lots of ideas just little money at this stage
Cheers Justin

Sounds like the 2009 Prado I just picked up a week ago, also in the low 40K bracket. Out of curiosity which size BFGs did you fit?

Hi everyone, I did the intro thing a week or so ago whilst still looking for the Prado I wanted. Happy to say that in T-3Hours I will be picking it up!! I'm not flush with money so nothing too great I'm afraid: 11/2004 VX V6 with 170k on the clock, Toyota towbar, tint and basically that's it. Firts thing is to get a nudge bar to fit some bl**dy wicked lights that my work imports from Finland!2005 VX V6

Hey Guys,
This forum is great, especially for a first time 4X4 owner. Bought my Prado back in May as a stock city car after seeing the light after owning the usual euroboxes and modded Commodores. I am starting to build it up to start travelling and seeing all WA and beyond has to explore. Everyone here has great knowledge of their Prado's and I am slowly building my knowledge as well. Handy for things that you would never figure out yourself...like where to stick your arm to change the passenger side parking light bulb without removing the battery!
Prado: 2008 GXL D4D Auto
Mods so far: Opposite Lock Steel Bullbar, Lightforce Genesis, Ironman Underbody Protection, GME TX3340 with aerial, Rhino Rack Sportz bars usually with Maxtax attached, custom window tint, rubber mats, sheepskins, Alpine stereo with reversing camera and a Hayman Reece towbar.
Next: Cooper A/T3s, awning and a baby seat!
Wishlist: Camper trailer, dual battery, Engel, OME suspension and rear draws.
Look forward to seeing you all out there.Last edited by BB84WA; 04-11-2012, 12:13 AM.
