  • Hey, this is Beechy from Drifta.

Back in February we bought a 2011 150 GX model Prado. It was a special order vehicle so had the 3rd row of seats in (like the GXL, Altitude, etc)...this was an intentional buy so we could basically take the seats out (!!) and install our 2 drawer + table set-up. Basically this is how it works....

    - 3rd row of seats come out
    - Install of Drifta Floor Replacement Panel - this is a carpeted panel, profiled to the shape of the truck, packed up slightly to raise above the cables and sensor, bolted to the truck into existing fixing points (no drilling)
    - 2 drawer + table unit bolts to new floor panel
    - Side wings and trim drop in to make neat and tidy finish

The 2 drawer + table (D2DWT) is the most common set-up we do for the Prado's (including then 90 and 120), but any of the Drifta 4WD systems can be used...side by side or vertical - just check out the web site. We can install here at our factory or ship to you - come with everything you need and some easy instructions. Can also build to suit cargo barriers, water tanks, fridges/slides, etc....whether you have them already or want us to supply - all easy stuff! We have a dedicated page to the 150 - see here.... http://www.drifta.com.au/set150Prado.php ....and be sure to check out the YouTube clip (no comments on the bloopers thanks!!).

So I've had the Prado for about 3 months now...and loving it!! I got the manual model - being from Wales I'd never seen an auto 4WD until I came to Aus so stuck with what I know! Here's some of the work I've done on it already....
    - ARB Sahara bar (allowed for future winch - maybe save a few more pennies first...)
    - ARB aluminium roof rack (Luke is very jealous of this compared to his steel one on the FJ!!)
    - 2" Emu lift and suspension upgrade
    - CSA alloy rims (so I could use the 265 tyres - standard GX rims only up to 245)
    - Cooper Maxx ST's
    - IPF Extreme Offroad spotties
    - Sahara snorkel
    - Electrophone UHF
    - And of course...the best drawer set-up on the market!!!!

I just want to thank all the guys on here who have supported us...I've seen all the comments and its pretty encouraging to hear the customer satisfaction in what we do. Cheers for looking...any questions just give me a shout....

    • G'day everyone,

Been lurking around on here for the past few months while I was in the process of getting my car (2011 GXL D4D - White) and getting a few things added to it prior to the sale.

Bit the bullet yesterday and chipped in the coin, as using this forum on my iPad and iPhone without Tapatalk was killing me and let's just say the genre of adds did not really fit in with using it at work!

Look forward to discovering many many more ways of spending my hard earned on here.

      Cheers
      Rick

            • Bullet bitten - now impoverished :-/

Hello everyone, I'm new in the forum. I've been reading it however for about a year while I did my research - it has been very helpful and I look forward t participating.

Old vehicle was a Subaru H6 aka the snow mobile - 12 years old and much loved but starting to cost a lot to keep going.

The journey meandered via the Prado vs Pajero route - really liked both and drove various spec models of both. Found it a fairly difficult decision but in the end the ride quality and more modern technology of the Prado tipped the balance.

Finally settled on a silver diesel auto Kakadu - build date 12/12 for $80k drive away which I thought not too bad. Despite the plastic leather on something with an RRP of >$90k!!! Bought it completely standard as luxury tax gets added to every accessory - these can be added later. Tow bar and cargo barrier are first on the list ASAP.

Only thing I really don't like about 150 series (other than the pleather) is the rear seat - it adds a lot to the floor height and I have an 11 year old 30kg border collie who has a dickie knee so will have to lift him in and out. But now I read you can pull those seats out, put a floor in and it's uncle bob time :-)

Thanks to all the wisdom which I have benefited from. Hope I can repay it!

                        New to the forum.

We have just traded our 2007 GXL TD Prado for a new "Graphite" Altitude which has just arrived at the dealer.

Just organising ARB Toowoomba for the winch bar, tow bar and snorkel to be fitted which should be approx 2 weeks once the bar arrives. Until then it will have to look like a city car. Also have it scheduled for a UHF etc to be fitted shortly after. Will swap the existing BF's we have on our 2007 Prado at the time of trade as they have only done about 7k. The new rig should start looking the part.

                        Mick and Nic

                        • Hey everybody..

Have been reading the forum for a couple of months trying to decide what to buy.. After all your help thought I should finally introduce myself.

Sold the old 90 series privately and traded the Rav4 for a new GXL Prado. Delivery should be middle of this week. Went for the diesel, auto and pearl silver (last two were wife's must haves.

                          Cheers,
                          Bailey

                          • Hello everyone, been lurking about here for a few months. Picked this up on Valentines day this year. Had about 76,000klm on it, just over 80,000klm now. Was hard finding a 5 seater and manual in Victoria but this one finally came up. It's a little grotty underneath but it's an EX DPI vehicle so that's to be expected. So far there are no issues. The little fuel meter is telling me it's getting 9.2L/100klm and that's pretty close to what I have calculated, once I have the Scangauge setup properly I'll get more accurate readings.

Model: GX Diesel, manual, 5 seats.
                            Year: 2010
                            Color: White
Accessories: Electric brake controller, factory Toyota alloy bar, tints, cargo barrier, Scan gauge.
Plans: Dual batteries, driving lights, snorkel, UHF, fridge, etc, etc........

Will start a build thread when stuff starts to happen, still window shopping and researching most things!

                            Cheers Brad.
