  • Not really, most seem closed these days.
I started the track here http://www.4x4earth.com.au/tracks.ht..._Mount-Nathan- once in Dad's GU Patrol but it started the rain and hill was quite steep so gave up as I was on my own.
Duck Creek Rd is also nice for a picnic. Once I get my Prado (hopefully today/tomorrow) I'll likely go out there with the family as it's easy and will let me get used to the new truck.
2007 GXL V6 - ARB Bullbar with LED lights, snorkel, extractors, 2 1/4" dual exhaust, K&N filter, dimpled/slotted rotors, headrest dvd players, Ebay Satnav/reverse camera, GME 3100TX, Tigerz11 Side awning on custom brackets with Maxtrax mounts, 300W Invertor, ARB Underbody protection, Lightbar and STZ 265/70 tyres.
Wish list in order I'll get them: Sliders, 2" lift, E-locker, Winch bar with winch.

    • Yes Cabaloo Rd can be quite slippery in the wet. I have done Duck Creek Rd in a Nissan X-Trail (Before the Prado), really you can make it in a 2WD.
Only the side tracks actually require 4WD.
I might join the Daytrip to Great Sandy Nat Park, Cooloola Beach - 17th Nov (trips section) but not sure if I can make it at this stage. There was also a trip to the Glasshouse Mtns that now looked like it's postponed until next month.

      Cheers

        • G'day all,
I've just bought my first Prado (pick it up today).
I've been driving around in a Calais the last few years, but missing the camping, driving touring associated with owning a 4WD.

I've owned a HJ75 Ute and a BJ42 before and love the Toyotas.

I'm pretty excited to get back into the touring. I've bought a 2011 GX, pretty much stock standard. Looking to add a few bits of fruit to it in the future and I'm looking forward to to racking your brains or scrolling through the forum looking for advice.

          Cheers

          Yak.

          • Afternoon all,
Recent transplant from Cornwall via 17 years in Scotland. Looking for a Prado just now to get to more out of the way spots to camp/surf/explore etc. Seems like a good idea to join up where the experts are located and get some inside info on the models/performance/reliability etc. Maybe some hints and tips on driving on unsealed and dirt roads, I don't want to be the next noob stuck in the outback unprepared!

              • Intro from JLC

                G'day guys & gals,

Dropped in to Pradopoint.com from Newhilux.net to see how the other half live.
I'm a proud owner of a '13 Hilux SR5 TD (Charcoal) with a number of ARB and custom mods.
I must admit I was close to purchasing a Prado prior to the Hilux but needed the rear ute space for work and play purposes.

I'd love to hear from any Kakadu (VX) owners and get their thoughts on the 18" rims and suitable tyre choices as I'm hoping to locate a 5 set for my SR5 as part of my current build project. I'll check over Pradopoint classifieds and threads to see what has already been said and what's available.

Well done to all on an awesome site. Keep up the good work.

                Cheers,

                JLC

                • You can also place a "wanted" ad in the wanted section for rims if it helps.
