Lol Troy, I am sure we would, well the missus would make me if it actually had pumps  Pretty sure the main reason we bought out here was her love for the show.....

I have been grazing the site for a few weeks now but only just got my registration yesterday (thanks pradogxlv6 for trolling through all of your emails for me). I am trying to find my way around to answer my own questions before I bug you guys with em

My name is Matthew (slaughts), I live at Benaraby in CQ.
                I bought a 2000 GXL 3.4l petrol last Sept.
It came with an old space pod and roof rack.
I have since added light force 170 spotties.
In the process of researching dual battery's to set up.

                  Hi Everyone,

                  Just wanted to introduce myself......
The name is Mark but friends call me Sterney so please call me that unless you are angry

Just bought my first 4WD, a 120 Prado of course.
I bought the vehicle in Brisbane and tried to drive it down to Sydney via the coastal road two weeks ago. At the time I didn't realize the extent of the flooding in mid NSW at the time. The Pacific Highway was 2 meters underwater at parts and most of the farmers I saw had their own waterfront properties. After a slight forced 650km detour, I made it home. Despite the many setbacks, I really enjoyed the drive. However, those country roads made me realize I need decent driving lights so the first thing I've bought is some lightforce spotties.

                  The Rig is:
Model: GXL Petrol 5 speed auto
                  Year: Late 04
                  Colour: Charcoal
Accessories: Sov bar with Lightforce 240 XGT (HID converted)
Wishlist: Everything. I'm going to concentrate on some basics first though...Winch, Air lockers/Compressor, UHF, Lift kit, Dual Batteries, Snorkel and some new feet (in no particular order). After that, I'll work on the touring luxuries and other bits and pieces.

My missus just admitted that she didn't mind me buying a Prado because it sounded like 'Prada' - Sheesh, these women...go figure! Now I just need to put a spin on all the mods I want so they sound like the ladies designer brands and the purchases will be OK with her. Hmmmm? Could be tough.

I'm not too happy that the dealer chucked on some brand new "All Country All Terrain" rubber. Has anyone even heard of these awesome tyres (sarcasm)? The other half won't be letting me buy new tyres until these are worn so I hope the wheel alignment is out

Hopefully, I'll see some of you around and would like to hook up with some local member outings. I'm also looking forward to learning from the vast wealth of knowledge that in on tap here.

Catch you around and thanks for having me...

                  Sterney
ARB lockers, 2" Lift, Airtek Snorkel, BFG AT's, Lightforce HIDs, ARB compressor, Recovery Points, Rear Drawers, ARB Fridge & Slide, Customised Bush Pinstriping, and other misc crap.

                      • Re: Introductions

                        Greetings all,

I have been lurking around this Forum for the best part of a year, so thought it was time to introduce myself...

My name is Mark, although some of my mates call me Bonno and we live in Brunei, Borneo, in SE Asia, just under two hours flying east of Singapore.

We purchased a new 120 Prado VX with a 1KZ-TE TD Engine (the D4D is not available in the Prado here ) in Dec 2007 and in addition to being a daily drive, it has been used extensively for touring around Sarawak and particularly Sabah, which are states of East Malaysia on the island of Borneo. There is some serious tropical 4WD areas here, probably not unlike Northern Queensland.

So, have not really done too much to it yet, but have done a power of reading on this Forum in order to make a few informed decisions. Not needing much of an excuse, last week we drove over and spent a few day in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah where I lashed out and fitted Bilsteins and King Coils all round, with the assistance of 9W6VX and the guys at Borneo 4WD. The roads in this part of the planet, although extensively paved, tend to be a little rough and this has improved the ride and handling immensely.
I also had to get reverse sensors fitted not long after we purchased it as the wife complained she couldn't see anything behind her when trying to park it - couldn't understand it - it's not that much bigger than her old SWB Vitara
Apart from that, only other plans are to fit a couple of spotties on the nudge bar at the front, a Steinbauer Chip and upgrade the tyres to BS D694/MT's/Coopers when the present rubber wears out.

Why only go this far with the mods? Because I want one of these (photo below)for the more serious stuff - they are far more popular than the 120 over here so parts etc are no problem....so I'll effectively have a boot in both camps, not unlike Boof!

                        [attachment=0:1zdbjxap]IMG_1811a.jpg[/attachment:1zdbjxap]

Anyhow Guy's, keep up the good work making available all the great info that's on this forum - it would also be good to meet up with some of the Brisbane guys when on the odd occasion I get down there.

                        Cheers,

                        Mark

Finally got myself a Prado after 12 months of hardcore saving! Got an 06 GXL V6 on friday and have been having a bash around Mt Mee yesterday and today. Never done 4WDing before and some mates took me through some rough stuff, mud and water. Loved it! Don't know why I didn't buy one years ago! Don't think I'll ever sell it unless I'm upgrading! Where do I get a pradopoint sticker???
