      Hi all,

Lionel joined us in March, but I've been too busy to join the site, introduce myself or use him much in anger since then, however the time has come to make a first step forward.

So about Lionel, he's a 2006 manual diesel "Pilbara" edition (think GXL with roof rails) who joined us all the way from the other side of the country due to the frustration of finding a vehicle with a sensible number of kilometers at a sensible price. Having bought him over the internet I was a little wary, but all has turned out well, so yes, I'd do it again (Please PM if you want some tips about what to do/not do!!).

Since acquiring him I've made a couple of mods, namely a remodelled side step and some enhancements to the front numberplate (water crossing, soverign bar, you know the story ...) at last weekend's 4wd training. I think the best mod so far has been to actually move the transfer lever into HL and LL

The real mods will have to wait for a build-up thread, and will also have to wait for the bank balance to catch up. In the meantime, I'm diving back in to the wealth of information and experience hoping that one day I'll be able to make a meagre contribution.

      Cheers

      Ed

PS Yes, that's another WA one!!!
      Gone - 2006 TD Manual - Silver
Current X3 35i (offroad capability limited, but 0-100 in 5.9 seconds...) - no Prados in Canada
Return to Oz, something new and prado like (will miss actual acceleration)

Geez, looks like I might have to move to Perth... Not that thats a bad thing (love the place)...

Anyway, I have been one of those lurkers for a few months now. I have learned soooo much from you fine folks, and I've been putting it all to good use too..
I have an 08 GXL TD4, dark grey, company car (whoot). I've recently picked up a 2nd sovereign bar and installed it myself, had a set of recovery poinys made up at work and galvansied. Looking to get a radiator bash plate made up this week. I have been enlisted to make up a few rear door tables too.
So far, I've talked three other guys at work into getting TD4's as comapny cars too, the boss hates me they are just oo good..
I live on the sunny Central Coast of NSW with my wife and 3 tin lids, 2 furkids too.. Day trips to Stockton beach and Watagan's is about all we have time for at the mo, but hopefully, we can get away for longer periods. Other hobbies include photography...

Anyway, thanks for such a great, friendly forum and so full of knowledge and ideas.

hi all, just joined the Prado Owners Club
picked up a very neat stock 2005 silver GXL 4ltr a few weeks ago
absolutely stoked, it was 96,000km when i got it, so to get a feel
for what i bought, changed the plugs with new denso's, straight up , great investment
the 3 on the n/side where shot. Only took a hour thanks to your threads

( so much for the 80,000k service it was suppose to have? )

Next, dropped "all" the oils and refreshed with catrol products, 4 now till i
learn more. but at least i know where im at with the condition of my oils
              and filters...its a good start.. ( engine,diffs,gearbox and transfer)

              extend breathers next

The rest of the mods and accessories and on my wish list.. till then
ill just keep droolin' over this website.. lookin forward
to a chat later... regards " the Newby"
