Hi there I'm Big-Trev and I have been a member for some time now.
I picked my Prado up in November 09.It is a 120 series Deisel Auto Grey colour. After looking around for a Good 4x4 the prado looked to be the best all rounder. Now that I have had it for a while the fuel economy is not as good as I would have expected. But I contribute this to beeing an auto.

    Goodies,
    Cooper st tyres,
    ARB deluxe Bullbar,
    IPF 2000 Round spoties ,
Dual Batteries with a 4wd systems controller,
Rear upgraded 12v plug for my Engel,
    gme tx3440 uhf radio,
heater exchange for that hot shower,
Nautalis air horn,LOUD. in the futre, lift kit,snorkel,3inch exsaust, roof rack.

Hi Trev and welcome. What year model have you got? I got an 09 model 120 TD auto and the economy is brilliant. Sometimes I think the gauge is stuck. I'm getting better than the 2.5 Forrester I had. Happy 4WDing.

          Hi everyone,

My name is Eli and after reading for a while I have decided to introduce myself. I will be picking up a gold 2003 glx prado diesel on Monday and cant wait. It already comes with a tow bar, bull bar, sidesteps and 2-way radio. I will be adding the sandgrabba mats all round (have 5 messy children) and whatever else I can to stop the beige interior going black. I am paying 30,000 for it with a 3 year warranty( may not be worth the paper it is written on  ), it has done 140,000 km so I am hoping I havent paid to much. I have been looking for months, the diesels are so hard to come by and prados seem to keep their value. Anyway I am looking forward to lots more reading and love the rig build ups.

          Regards Eli

Hi all, my name is Andrew. I upgraded my old Rodeo to a new Prado TD auto in 2005, Traded that in on one of the last 120 series D4D's in september 09. Working on the mods (check my signature). I havent got a wish list as much as a to do list as the mods are going to happen. to do list includes, fitting spotties, making a set of rock sliders, making custom cargo barrier and drawers to go with current blackwidow drawers, roof bars and roof rack(probably rhino if i dont make my own). Maybe a winch but still undecided on that. hope to do a build thread soon including the off road camper i have just built. any way finished my cup of tea and slice of cake while typing this so back to the shed to do some more work.

almost forgot, ordered a hilux bonnet scoop the other day, my paint and panel guy reckons he can fit it the week after next.

            Cheers Andrew

              G'day guys,

My apologies for not visiting PP for quite some time. It's been so long I thought "introductions" might be the best place to say "hi" again to all! Its not much of an excuse, but I've been rather distracted by a lousy investment year! I even went back to work for awhile ... but I'm not much good at that either

              cheers

PS I note that Matt is taking a sabbatical from moderating ... I do hope all is well for you mate!

                Morning,

I have a Silver 150 SX two door.

It is now nearly two weeks old and all is good.

No mods or accessories yet. We'll learn a little more about it and get what's appropriate when we need it.

Coming from big Nissans, the fuel consumption is welcome but the tank is a little small.

Hello everyone at prado point! Ive been looking at this site for a couple of months now, and have decided to post a greeting. May I say that the information I have obtained from this site has been extremely helpful. We purchased out 120 Prado 16 months ago just as a large family wagon, Years ago we had been into hardcore 4wding, We have now got the bug back!!! Maybe not as extreme as we are used to but we have fond memories of many a weekend saying " ill just go down this track to see where it goes ?? " many an adventure. I was surprised how cappable the Prado can be out there. Ours is a completely bog stock V6 petrol " my oil burner days are done " With the help of this forum I have visions of my wagon being and doing everything that i can throw at "him" ( my daughter calls it Perry Prado ) Thanks in advance for the information im going to obtain. By the way I have just ordered the Rough Country 6" Lift Kit from the US of A. Good mod to start the project!!! Same running gear as FJ Cruiser.

                        Cheers
                        MICK

                        • Introductions

                          Hello Prado Point forum

First post after having just joined. Have been reading, with much interest, all the posts across all subects within the forum. I had recently been considering the new Mitsubishi Challenger to replace my 2001 Ford Escape. Bought a off road camper just before Christmas and realised I needed something diesel with a bit more grunt to get us where we wanted to go. Anyway, after test drives of the Challenger, neither the wife or I were "grabbed" by the interior, options nor the actual drive to the point of wanting one.

Thanks to the forum, we went out and test drove the Prado and within 30 feet we were "hooked". I am very pleased to say that come Friday of this week, we will become the very proud owners of a 2008 Grande with only 25K on the clock and lots of adventurous km's to come. Both looking forward to hooking up the camper first chance we get and start our open (and dirt) road experiences.

Thank you to all of you who (inadvertantly) provided so much valuable advice which helped us make our decision. I am sure there will be many more posts to come with pictures and trip reports. I suspect you will have no problems identifying us in the pictures - we will be the couple with the huge smiles!!

Any advice from the forum as to do's & don'ts will be noted with appreciation. Cheers

Welcome Rick. Glad to see you got hooked on the Prado. Reminds me of last year when I kept hinting to the treasury dept that I wanted to get into 4wding, nothing fancy, something a few years old, a 90 maybe that I could build up. She says, I don't want those ugly things in the driveway and you'll never get me to go off-roading. I says, Do you want to see what a Prado looks like? So off we go to Windsor Toyo and they let us test drive a new 120. The missus is rapt. She doesn't want anything else. She wants all the bells and whistles. So we picked up a brand spanker VX in July 09 and she's inviting all and sundry round to check out her pride and joy. You just never know with women.
                            [SIZE=1]Cheers Jim.

Thanks Ozpat - you're right about the other halves having a mind of their own. Mine liked the Audi Q7, the Volvo X90 and the BMW X5 until I reminded her that we wanted a vehicle designed to cope with on road and off road capabilities whilst towing a camper. Eventually she realised what I was talking about and came around to my way of thinking (thank heavens - particularly when I saw the price of the Q7!!)

Can you advise how I create a signature for my posts. There are some interesting ones on the forum and I would like to add mine to the list.

                                Thanks
