We have had our Prado coming up 5 years now and she has been an absolute trouper! we have never had any trouble with her at all. The Husband keeps hinting that we should upgrade but I am more than happy with the old bird. I say, while the kids are still young and she is still going strong we should just hang on to her. Upgrade when the kids aren't so messy!
G'Day to the forum. I have been on here for the last couple of weeks when I decided to buy myself a Prado. I am awaiting delivery of a Silver GX Prado (6 speed manual).
The first mod's have begun at the dealership where I have had the 6.5inch rims replaced with 7.5inch and put on BFG AT Tyres.
I have already ordered and ARB Deluxe Bull bar and the rest of the mods are in planning.
We will be towing with our Prado and I am confident that it will handle dragging the Jayco Outback Swan around the country side.
Looking forward to reading and contributing to the posts on the forum.

Hi everyone, I've been a member of this forum since July last year....I'm more of a reader than a writer....
Bought a new D4D Last year in May and have been kitting it out with most of the stuff that I've read about here, its costing me a small fortune!
My wife and I have already taken it to the lower Flinders twice, once up the Strezlecki to Mt Freeling station, [ great adventuring up there ! ] spent 3 days at Warraweena station in the upper Flinders on their tracks , and Coffin Bay over Easter...love the sand! Cant wait to take it back to the Flinders with all the mods.
Great site

Welcome to the forum Cypress. Good to see another Adelaide Prado, especially one in the Western Suburbs.
Just an Intro from Sunshine.
We have ditched the Commodore and are now the owner of a 2004 VX Auto Diesel in silver bought about 2 months ago now; the 1st 4X4 we have ever owned and now realise why there are so many of these things on the road. We have had it up some hills in the Mt Mee area north of Brisbane and although the car knew what it could do; I can't say the same for the driver and passenger. As the driver, I am amazed at what it can climb.
It is stock standard, I think; and still running some Dunlop Grandtreks but probably 2nd set and will need replacing in a few months time.
We pull a Jayco Eagle with it and made a trip to Wagga from Brisbane in March/April as we are Geocachers and it went like a dream pulling the just over 1 tonne loaded camper.
We run a satnav in the car when on the road with plans for other things as time goes on but very pleased to find a forum with so many interested people with the same vehicle and keen to share info.
Regards, Sunshine

I, like many others, have been an avid reader of this forum for a while now. Started reading when researching a second hand Prado, lots and lots of good reading!!! Just drove home today in a spanking new Graphite D4D GXL Auto, the Long Haired General (missus) looked at a second hand 120 and said why not get a new one instead? Well who was I to argue, the dealer managed to source one in only 3 weeks!!!!!!!! I feel extremely lucky as there are still people waiting for theirs. Not doing too much to the beast as yet, got tints, carpets and boot protector at the mo. Towbar (Toyo one), cargo barrier and front clearance sensors to put on at first service.
Yeah great deal, woz originally told end of June beginning of July. Got a call from the stock manager saying that some poor unfortunate had pulled out and the graphite D4D auto GXL could be diverted if caught early enough!! Suffice to say I bit his arm off!! Looking forward to putting a few k's on it and reporting any findings.
New to recreationally 4x4ing but considerable experience from work. Currently living in ACT.
Been lurking for a short time and been looking for an active, family friendly 4x4 community.
I have just picked up a 2nd hand rig with very low k's and have quite a bit of work to do to it (add-ons and mods etc) to make it a safe, suitable and capable family off-road vehicle ... as $$$ permit, but hope to lean on the knowledge of the members to get the most out of what I do.
I'll try not start threads like "what tyres should I get?" for the 101st time, I'm not affraid to search, but also not affraid to ask questions in a hope to learn more!
