  • Re: Introductions

    Gday all
I've been perusing this great site for a while now, I thought I'd better say hi.
Purchased a 2004 GLX V6 late last year with 80K on clock, previously a mums taxi - hadn't even touched the dirt!
Already had a sovereign bar and H&R towbar, and I'm slowly adding some bits myself. So far a dual battery set up, water tank under bullbar, aluminium bash plate and rear camp table. Next on the list is BF Goodies and suspension upgrade. I've got recovery points to go on and planning a drawer and fridge slide set up, so that should keep me out of trouble for a while.
Thanks to PP for all the great ideas and discussion topics so far and I look forward to meeting some members out an about in this big brown land of ours!
    Cheers
    Jim

          Hi Everyone,

I have to say that your site has been a fabulous source of information and inspiration in my research for our new Prado. We are new to Prado's but not new to 4WD driving or Toyota's. And expect the delivery of our (my) new Storm Blue 2010 GXL T-D Prado in July.... Hopefully it makes it here in July.

As for a wishlist I will always want more then I can afford but at this stage just the important basics: BFG AT's, B-Bar, T-Bar, driving lights, UHF, tinting, mats and protectors.

Well, with a heavy heart we said Goodbye Thursday evening to our 95 Series TD Prado. Although I have been a member for the last 2 months this is my first post to the group.
Previously we had a 2000 TD Prado manual with Roo Bar, towbar, Tx3200 UHF CB Radio, 27Mhz CB radio, VHF Amateur Transceiver (Yes I am one), K&N Air Filter, F1 window tint and the TP09X1 Navigator system.

                              http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6863
The old girl has been very good to us and we run up over 230,000 Km of fun times with never a problem (had to replace a $6 bearing in all that time). Looking at the fuel stats over the last 5 years they average out at 10.7L/100Km, so also happy with the economy.

Retirement considerations early in the year brought us to the decision to upgrade so we went shopping for a replacement. Being very impressed with the last 3 Toyota vehicles that we have owned especially the Prado, alongside what else is on offer out there, we decided to stay with the brand. As only another Prado would suit our requirements we commenced the dealer ring around.
Not impressed with some but found a good one a week last Saturday. Mandurah Toyota (WA) were keen, willing to deal and promised a quick delivery. Signed the deal same day and drove away the following Friday.

The deal, White 2010 GXL TD Auto with Genuine towbar, front weathershields, dashmat and rubber floormats front/rear thrown in all at a mutually acceptable price.
Went straight to Tint a Car and had the vehicle tinted with the F1 system (a must I believe).
Plan to move the TP09X1 to the new vehicle along with a Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller and the Tx3200 UHF radio.
Mounting space is first problem to be overcome.

                              Cheers,
                              Alan

Well the anticipation is over, i now have a prado!!
The Deal was a White 2000 GXL TD Prado manual with with Genuine towbar, front weathershields, dashmat and rubber floormats front/rear, towbar, K&N Air Filter all thrown in... but no TP09X1 Navigator system! Alas, it had already had a visit to Tint a car 10 years ago ;-)
I found this Old Girl with 230thou on the clock, in great condition, drives well and the previous owner wanted a youger and prettier model ;-)
Well, if you saw his new one, you wouldn't blame him.
Anyway, looking forward to giving the 'older' girl another 10 years of lookin after and hope it only costs $6 in repairs too.
