      Hi All
New here, looks like a great forum awesome source of information.
Picked up my new GXL Turbo Diesel Auto in Graphite yesterday, its there to replace a `99 diesel Jackaroo.

Dramatically improved the handling and steering response today, replaced the Dunlop Grand Trek whatever with some Bridgestone D694 . Tried to get the LT`s but none available apparently.
I have used the BFG A/T previously and asked for them, but these were recommended to me by the tyre place. So far I am happy, the stiffer sidewall are welcome and they grip well in the wet, but haven`t tested them on the dirt yet.

Will look at some springs and shocks at some point in the near future, but not interested in raising it too much, about 20mm or so. Would like to fit a snorkel, its peace of mind for watercrossings, but more for keeping the dust out of the airfilter.

Going to look at a second battery set up for the fridge soon, another interesting topic to research. Whatever I am going to do I am a big fan of the "kiss" approach.

I am also thinking about an oil cooler for the auto, as I am looking at buying a caravan and taking the kids on a few trips around OZ.

What I am not sure on is a bullbar, I fitted one to my last car, but is it really needed? It did put a noticeable amount of weight on the front of the car and it looked the goods, but
never hit anything with the last one. I guess that most incidents with wildlife happen around dusk or dawn and its generally not a time I am on the road traveling.

      cheers Jochen
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.

            Hi everyone
            Names Tim,
Just joined up, I sold my trusty Surf last week, and am now on the lookout for a 120 series prado.
Hopefully in time I will be able to modify it to a similar level as my last car, and this site should help out a great deal.

If anyone see's a 120 series prado in WA for a decent price, let me know!

            Cheers,
2004 Prado GXL. v6 auto, ARB deluxe bar, exhaust, 2" EFS lift kit, Outback Acc rear bar,
rallye 2000 spots, roof mount dvd, dig_options stereo, toyota roof bars.

                Hi All,
I am from Nairobi, Kenya. Have just imported my Prado from Japan. Its a 120 series 2003 Model tz and have had it since May. (Japan is gx basic, tx, tz and tz-g (difference between the tz-g and tz is leather electric seats)

                Model: Prado 120 series
                Year: 2003
                Colour: silver
                Accessories: nothing as yet
Wishlist: waiting for the new TJM type 13 bar to come to kenya (hopefully by October as dont like the current design) as we do not get the ARB bar here which looks os much better. (The TJM here is for Australian Dollars 1720 after a 25% discount)
                Safari Snorkel
                Spot Lights
Upgrade the suspension (If I can find someone in Kenya who can change the air suspension to a normal suspension, otherwise am stuck with the air suspension)
Cooper ST or Bf Goodrich A/T tyres.

not yet sure about getting the following if it is worth the money:
                Winch
                Dual Battery
Fridge (as can always take a cooler box everywhere as get Ice everywhere here to buy)
                Air Compressor
                Rear Locker.

                Regards,

                Vijay

                • Re: Introductions

gday, great site with heaps of great info that i will use and hopefully help others,
just scored myself a 1997 prado from pickles damaged auctions with a little front end damage....well acually new bonnet, guard, radiator, fan, headlight and a few other things. anyways ive spent about $3500 getting her back on the road and should be getting it relicenced with a week or 2. the best part of this car wouls have to be that she amazingly only has 95000kms and the car resembles its kms not its age.very happy.....not to mention i only paid $3000 upfront for her. so for about $6500 i have a very nice stock prado with very low kms that would have to be worth around 10000-15000???? anyways enough bragging about my awesome buy.
i have already built myself some rear draws for the back(being a cabinetmaker i thought i should) and they have turned out quiet well i must say.
next im thinking a lift kit and bigger tyres, new 2 din stereo that has gps/bluetooth/dvd and all that stuff. but firstly i am after a bullbar of some form for the front as the original one was damaged. if anyone has one for sale or recommends a good priced brand throw me a msg.

                  cheers

                            Hi PP'ers,
Since I have been a member for a while now I suppose I should be introducing myself. My name is Brendan and my rig is a 2008 GXL V6 Auto Silver, see rig buildup. I am not very tech savvy so bear with my as this is the 1st forum I have joined (Is there a forums for dummies book??) The best thing I like is that there is a wealth of information in here that is very informative regarding my vehicle, not to mention the humour which I always get a chuckle out of  Anyway I will keep this brief and will see you all on the forum sometime.
                            Cheers,
