• Hey everyone! First post!

Our Prado:

Model: GXL
Year: 12/2007
KLM's: 95,000
Colour: Grey
Accessories: Genuine Bull bar and tow bar
Wishlist: HID Spotties, heavy duty roof racks, cargo barrier, electronic brake controller, UHF.

Yes pretty boring wish list, we are severely limited by budget and we bought the Prado purely for one thing, to do a lap round Oz with a camper and 3 kids in 18mths time. We are going to break free from the daily grind and show the kids (and us) life can be lived in a very different way to how we do now. We are looking to take a minimum of 6mths, but I really want to take at least a year, all depends on what work we can pick up along the way.

Anyway, thats a super quick intro, I'm off to post in the D4D Rattle thread I think...... I could just be paranoid, but I have a feeling we might be up for some injector trouble :-(

Check out our blog documenting our around Australia adventure: http://fealyfamily.wordpress.com/ 07 GXL D4D, Bilstein shocks, Dobinson coils, Red Arc isolator, 105Ah Allrounder dual battery, heavy duty outlet in rear for the CF80 Waeco. Tigerz11 full size rack and awning. GME TX 3100 UHF, Alpine CDE135bt head unit with Steering Wheel controller. Hilux washer jets. Zac Brown Band sticker

• Greetings Myminirocks,
Good choice of vehicle to do laps of Oz.

Also good to see a first post in the intro section, rather than a spurious question.
So your other vehicle is a mini ... or are u talking bout your testicles?

• Hi,
My names Glen or Lenny as mosta my friends know me, I live in Newcastle, this is a great forum and i've learnt heaps from it, and also saved heaps cash from it doin things myself, I've had some bad experiences from Toyota Service departments like a lota people here and its great to find out which ones to avoid.
I have an 03' V6 White Grande with 77'000, with a new set of BFG AT's, also have a Hema Navigator which is handy, yesty I had some Pacemaker extractors put on which has helped it breath heaps better (thanks PP for the tips) I have it booked in with ARB Newcastle on 12th March for a Sahara Bar to go on, hope theres no dramas with that, as I've read differing reports on ARB's installation quality...I'am also keen to have some new shocks put in it but am a bit confused with the factory airbags etc, just feels a bit doughy even on the sport setting. Done some PP searching and will continue with that.
Surfing is my rush generally but I was attacked by a shark on 18th Jan and i'am lookin at more 4wd day trips to get my kicks now, I'm not geared up for touring and enjoy early start day trips within an hr or so of Newy so if anyone out there is keen to get together i'm keen, gonna be off work for months because of my injuries.
Regards, Glen.

• Hey all new to the 4wd scene. Im 20 years old, boat builder by trade and love the out doors! Have a 2005 gx manual diesel. Has UHF, 694 dueler AT's, narva ultimate spotties, arb deluxe bar, arb compressor, maxtrax, bushranger floor mats, arb recovery kit. Future mods would be lift, snorkle, rack and awning, new bull bar to get a winch, rear draws. Would love a front locker but it won't happen in a hurry.

I have a stack of questions and the first one will be about how and where to put the second fuel filter?

Cheers Dan

• Hi all, Geoff here,

Feel like a fake by not yet having a Prado but being on here. I'm currently deciding what model to buy, and found this site. Good to get some idea of what other people think of different models and accesories. Currently leaning toward the Auto Diesel Altitude with a few more options.

Having come from a Colarado - bad idea, and before that a 93 Hilux, i love getting out 4x4ing. Hopefully can get my new Prado soon and get out there again.
Geoff

Im not Bogged - I've just lost traction. . . . . and now I'm showing the wife why I bought those Maxtrax, and the tyre deflator, and the compressor, and the bullbar, and the winch, and a lot of other goodies I've hidden in the Prado

• Hi Geoffury. Welcome to PP. If you are getting a Prado you are not a fake, you will love it. Trust me!

Have a look around the site , there is a LOT of information on here & anything you can't find try a search & if still no answer, ask away.

Cheers

• Good morning all. Name's Rob as you may have guessed and thought I'd say a quick hello before heading back out the mines. Have been following the site whilst shopping for my Prado which I now have after an absolute disastrous time as a ah.. can I say it.... Patrol owner. Yes the 2007 patrol got me into 4x4ing but you'll all be happy to know that it broke in half (well quarters) and the car yard lent me a Prado whilst deciding what to do with it. Their mistake. Got money back and went shopping online. Now have a graphite 2010 GXL. Have only added TJM bar and snorkel thus far as roos are a major drama on way to work. Have awning, roof racks and winch on the way then up to the cape in July/August with the daughter. Maybe do the Bloomfield Track in a couple of breaks time depending on the wet season's plans.

Have already got heaps of valuable info from the site and looking forward to milking you all some more.

Cheers, Robbo

• New baby finally arrived

Hi all, been lurking for a couple of months while waiting for the new toy to arrive. The big day was today, picked up my new D4D GXL this afternoon, traded in the old Navara and couldn't drive away quick enough. The difference in quality and comfort is incredible. I've had 4wd's for about 20 years, and this will be my first non-ute for over 10 years, with the last two cars being the Navara and a Rodeo.

I plan to set it up for touring and some reasonably rough 4wding, my main stomping ground is the Victorian high country, although a few of my mates are talking about doing the Simpson again in 2013, combining with watching the Fincke Desert race. We did it three years ago when one of our lot was riding a bike in the race and all had a ball.

I'll do a my rig buildup once things get started. The first thing is new tyres tomorrow, Mickey Thompson ATZ 4 rib 265 70 17. Next week should be ARB Sahara bar, Safari Snorkel, OME suspension, Dual battery system. Then I'll be madly rushing to get lots more done before the next trip at Easter. Swaping a few things from the old car to the new.

Here is a pic of the new rig next to the old one, chalk and cheese really.

Also, thanks to all the advice and hints I have got on here in the last couple of months, I hope that I can contribute to others as well.
