    Hi all,

I ordered my new D4D GXL about 3 weeks ago. Very exciting to be getting my own 4wd after driving many for work. Hopefully the wait will not bee too long (dealer said end of April, we'll see).

Here is what I am getting:

    Graphite 150 GXL Auto, Diesel
ARB Deluxe Which bar - colour coded
    Safari Snorkel
    Toyota Tow Bar
    Toyota Roof Racks
Leather seat upgrade - keep wife happy and easier with little ones
    Rubber mats
    Rear rubber cargo mat
Tyre change = still undecided between BFG all terrains or Cooper St Max (advice welcome on these, including size options)!

    Wish List:
2 inch lift kit - brand unsure
    Fridge and storage set up
    Dual battery set up
    UHF radio and aerial
    Driving lights
    the list is endless

I haggled well to get the car at a great price and then walked into my local ARB shop and realised how much I could spend in there. If only the money was endless (it is not).

The reason for buying the prado basically came down to up sizing our family rig. Coming from a Liberty wagon with 2 kids under 2, it is very hard to travel without towing the box trailer for prams and the like. I drove everything and was sold on the prado first up. A bit more of an initial outlay, but looks like resale values are awesome.

Based in the Ballarat area in Vic, not sure if many PP members in this area. Thanks for the lurking advice over the past month as i was looking into my purchase. looking forward to creating a post on the 'my big rig' thread when i get the car.
    cheers.

      • Oh What A Feeling Prado!!

G'day just joined though been looking for about a week and you've been promoted to us for over a month now.

        Model: 120GRJ GXL
        Year: 2003
        Colour: Burgundy
Accessories: Dual Fuel (Vapour Injected LPG)
        Toyota Gen Sovereign Bull Bar
        Tow Bar
Colour Coded Hard Spare Wheel Cover (but it's grey)
        Roof Racks
        Weather Shields
        Tinted Windows
        Garmin GPS
        Driving Lights
        Fog Lights (the yellow kind)
Wish List: Bag of $100 Notes (to pay for everything)
        ARB/Waeco Fridge Freezer
        Dual Battery System
        Winch
        UHF Radio & Aerial
        Reversing Camera
In Car Recorder (sick of all the idiots out there)
Camper Trailer (for a bit more comfort) [17/4]
        plus so much more...

Purchased Prado in September 2008 and went for a camping holiday in August 2009 around the Eyre Peninsula where we got to use the Prado in Low Low for the first time. We literally went to the edge of Australia. We love the Prado and most definitely have not been afraid to use it. In fact, nearly every afternoon for school pick up I choose an area that the average car won't park.

We have friends who are buying their first Prado and told us about the 2012 GTG. We both thought that it would be a good idea to go 4WDing with other Prado lovers who are more experienced than us (especially if either of us got... stuck!).

We bought the Prado with every intention of going camping and 4WDing, and have been considering joining a 4WD club for ages. So what better club to join than a Prado Club.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone and 4WDing.

          • Hi Wozclean, welcome to the forum. Murray Bridge hey, just down the road from me (sorta)

The 2012 GTG should be a great place for you to meet lots of other Prado owners, also we should be able to take you on some of the best 4wdriving SA has to offer.

Have a look here http://www.pradopoint.com/forumdispl...Pradopoint-GTG for all the info on the GTG (if you haven't found it already). Look forward to meeting in September!

            Cheers Andrew

            • Hi all; been visiting this site for a while. In 2010, Lynn and I did an around OZ bike ride (11,000km) in ten months. Don't worry about your Jenny Craigs or Lite n Easy... a trip like that gets the weight off!! Anyway, on the way around we were envious of all the 4WD and camper trailers getting off road to the interesting places and so we have added a Prado to the bike fleet and have ordered a Tvan to pick up in July. Keen to hear all the stories and suggestions about fitting out the Prado.

              Cheers

                      • Hi everyone, thought it was about time I introduced myself and my Prado Now that I finally have it!

                        Model: GXL D4D Manual
                        Year: 2012
                        Colour: Glacier White
Accessories: Tow Bar from Toyota, ARB Bar, ARB Drawers, ARB Fridge ... wasn't too sure on the fridge, one friend has a engel, the man has a waeco so I thought I'd be different and try the ARB one. If its crap I'll just pinch the waeco from the shed
Wishlist: Dual Batteries, UHF, Proper Tyres The more time I spend on here the more stuff I find!

Also looking at doing a lift kit but height clearance is a big issue - my work building is 1.95m and its a common occurrence for people to hit a kerb and wedge their vehicle in (amusing but I don't laugh too much as I could be one of them one day) and I also have to go into city car parks regularly. I think I'd be safe with 2 inches but not sure if I'm cutting it too fine.

Two reasons I went for a Prado - it suited work, fit in the motor vehicle policy for the allowance (woo!) and I could put the drawers in it to fit all the work junk. Secondly the man's 80 series will eventually be up for replacement so it was a good opportunity to get a new 4WD where work and the tax man help me out Although after 6 weeks of my prado ownership he thinks he'll get another 10 years out of the 80 at least - he may be an electrical technician by trade but he doesn't like all the electrics on the Prado.

I've done a few trips around the place, did Goog's last year and going again next week. Taking the 80 series though, I can't bring myself to spend 5 days in my nice new car without showering and make it smell! Also been to Bendleby in the flinders which was great fun and a few day trips and tracks about the place. Now I have my car my list of places to go has gotten much longer!

I found the site by seeing a sticker on another Prado a while back in Cavan, was a graphite 120 - that's all I remember, I thought it was a site that sells Prados (ie, carpoint, pradopoint) turns out its a whole lot better!
