  • Custom Avatars

    Heya,

I've been trolling the forums and noticed some users have larger avatar than others? When I try to upload an avatar, it says the maximum size allowed is 80x80px; depsite others have greatly larger ones?

How can I increase the maximum size of 80x80px? (Yes I have tried uploading images directly from my computer and via an external url; when uploading via computer I get a coded error:

"Warning: tempnam() [function.tempnam]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File() is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/pradopoi:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in [path]/includes/class_dm_userpic.php on line 204
Warning: fopen() [function.fopen]: Filename cannot be empty in [path]/includes/class_image.php on line 333
    Redirecting..."

and when I upload via a url, it says the image it too large)

How did you guys (Users with larger avatars) get yours working?

    Thanks,
    EasyCompany24

It is a matter of compression rather than pixels etc.

Doesn't it still make the size of the avatar 80x80px? ...Im talking about bigger dimension avatars such as AJ120 , Schaffer, ntp, Trekrider and PradOz; just to name a few.

i think its because we are oldies from the old PP version where they were allowed that size.

its the reason i am loath to change mine to an updated version, just in case i cant keep it that size anymore

Well I have a small avatar. So I guess that I don't have to compensate for other areas...

Is there a "click to enlarge" option?

Nope. Look at the later photos on my build up. The are compressed photos that take up less pixls than my earlier photos.

Yes Prado Oz is correct, they were carried over from the old format forum. I must say the lack of avatars and the small size is a pit of a pity, a decent avatar makes identifying the different people a lot easier. Obviously we need a limit as I know on another forum people have an avatar and signature photos that take up half a page.

                              Cheers Andrew
