  • Selling OEM 150 Stereo... Is this guy smoking crack?

I found this for sale on Perth Gumtree...
    http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-V...AdIdZ302068395

Forgive me if i'm wrong but i would guess this guy has replaced his stereo with a Ebay $600 nav unit and is trying to sell his lesser OEM unit for $1200... Why wouldn't everyone else just buy the $600 unit?
I'd be interested to know if he actaully sells it beacuse it'll be "Nav unit here i come" if i can get 2x for the OEM stereo.

Whats the toyota price for replacement units? Could be he's selling for that same price?
Although, if that is the case, why not buy direct from Toyota - at least then there would be a warranty included?

    I think he's on something!!!

I'm contemplating a VMS or Dig. If I got $300 on my old Grande 120 version I would be very happy.

I am not talking to you until I get my amts anti land mine protection installed. I will however duly note you interest and apply a similar waiting period before responding

Actually, the real facts are I am looking but it may be a few months before I purchase.

Craig. Do you lose the tilt function (I assume you do as the unit is a complete replacement?
              Did you look at VMS?
If money was not an issue which would you chose?
Does the existing camera and stuff just plug and play?

MLC, the DigOptions AVN11TP does not have the tilt function but to date I haven't missed it. I went with this unit after reading the threads on this site and was so impressed by the support being provided by Matt. I didnt really look any further (didnt consider the VMS and can't comment sorry...) As for the Camera, mine prado is an '04 and never had one but I do now. I did pay the extra coin for the Sony CCD camera which is a superior unit. The Nav sh&*s over the OEM system and the DVD is fantastic (Avatar sounds great cranked up in the Prado!!!) I also like the Virtual disc which you can record 6 CD's onto the HDD. Overall I'm really happy with my purchase.

I believe this unit has been spoken for as per a discussion at the caravan, camping & 4wd sale... Remember mate?

Surprisingly, rob's second hand unit its costing the same as what I'm charging him for the install of his new unit...

Craig. I will be checking out AJ120 and 120D4D's units. How do you find the offroad maps?

I'm after a later model sat nav. No point getting Craig's as we both have the same unit.

To date I haven't registered the OziExplorer S/W so it runs in demo mode for a short period and then stops running until it is restarted. I managed to get hold of all the Aust wide Hema maps off an associate at work which was a bonus, so I'm good to go there and yet to learn how to drive it all properly. I'm sure it cant be too hard? About a month ago we took a short trip using track notes from a handy little book called Dirty Weekends (South East Queensland) put out by Brad McCarthy (Mr MaxTrax), and for a brief time was following the OziExplorer GPS points and using the counter for the Klms travelled for waypoints which were handy (and spot on compared to the cars speedo). So once I get it all running, I'm sure it will be an invaluable tool.
