1 is 1.1m and the other about 1.3m.Originally posted by blackvx View Posthey I do like that, how long are your strings of LED's?
I bought a roll of http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/150658874...84.m1438.l2649 and cut it to suit as I want. 5M of double the usual intensity light is bloody good value for $27AUS.
I calculate I will get 4 lights at a total cost of approx $20 each. If you went for 1m lengths the cost would be around $20 all up each. The same intensity light, if you can find one would cost around $60-$80 for a 30cm length. Granted it would have a cover but hey, this stuff is water proof!
The result turned out great and I will post some pictures of them on when I can. Will be difficult to show that they cast viewable light for a long distance and very bright light in the general area. Now considering some alternate fixtures so they can be hung from a foxwing or other type awning. I have no doubt a 1 meter length would cast more than enough light to clearly see under a 2.5 x 2 meter awning, even if hung off the side of the car rather than the centre of the awning.

You will be impressed with the brightness. SWMBO wants it throughout the renovations to light up little nooks. The LED Strips as mentioned via eBay Certainly are cheap! [$27] - I recently purchased 3m for $7 per 50cm = $42 from Oatley Electronics in Sydney [LS500 FLEXIBLE - WATERPROOF (IP65) 12VDC LED STRIP], but the other two items to look at for general lighting are their "K263A - 4W Led Lamp (Prawning Light) KIT", and its big brother the "K263" an 8 watt version of the same thing. I bought 2 of them and am thinking of leaving out half the lights on one of them as it is VERY bright!
I am planning to place the 12v strip at the back of the prado so we can see into the Frig!, and the 2x K263's for tent lighting via a lead from the car battery, or a transformer? (Just arrived yesterday...)
