All petrol prados do this.
It always sounds like a manifold leak. It seems to come from the passenger side bank of the V6. It can only be cured by replacing the exhaust manifold with a set of extractors.
Just regard it as "character"...Rob.

Do you mean a Flutter sound as in fairy wings or Fluter sound as in high pitched "lets take all the mice and then kids out of the town" type noise?Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!

Life would be so much easier if we attached sound wave files.......... For instance, I have a whining sound....... could be a turbo or the passenger or one of those pesky voices in my head.Originally posted by MidLifeCrisis View PostDo you mean a Flutter sound as in fairy wings or Fluter sound as in high pitched "lets take all the mice and then kids out of the town" type noise?

I have a whining noise also. Buts its a tired alternator, not the passenger, and not a supercharger like I wish.
To the original poster, think of this as a good excuse for extractors.2004 Prado GXL. v6 auto, ARB deluxe bar, exhaust, 2" EFS lift kit, Outback Acc rear bar,
rallye 2000 spots, roof mount dvd, dig_options stereo, toyota roof bars.
More to come!

Flutter
Mate as mentioned in first reply, this is extremely common on the V6 from the first of them to the last of the 120. They supposidly quitened it down in late 04 when the 5 speed auto come in but I have 05 and sounds the same as my mates 03. Wouldnt bother with it in any way. Either keep the window up or turn the tunes up a bit louder. I wouldnt bother with extractors just to stop a bit of a flutter, as when there cruising they are so nice and quit. Sounds worse when your cruising along next to one of those concrete barriers on the freeways lol. Dont bother with it and enjoy the grunt knowing you can flog those D4D's lol..................Only kidding we pay for it in fuel costs when you do boot itFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet

Yes, you did ask for advice and good advice was given. Hopefully my poor attempt at humour will not discourage you and we will hear from you as a contributor to the forum in the future.
Finally, the majority (3 of 4) of your posts suggest you are polite and to that end my sincerest apologies for my light hearted comments that have upset you. It was definitely wrong of me to assume you had any sense of humour. I guess its a fault of mine stemming predominently from a severe lack of intelligence as you suggest.Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!
