I have a Coromal Silhouette Pioneer that is really over engineered, but..... the final finish is pretty ordinary in parts. It seems that quite a few things weren't fully thought through or properly finished. I have spent quite a bit of time fixing those things, such as tying off cables, upgrading screws and rivets etc.
I looked at a lot of campers before I bought ths Coromal and what was really dissappointing was that nearly all the brands, with a few excetions such as Camprite, are just not properly finished. It's a problem that seems to be getting more common in lots of areas. I just had a 6 year old $2500 fridge pack up and I was told that was a pretty good run!!!!Steve

I guess we are all assuming what has caused the breakage. It should not happen on a trailer that should be engineered to handle the environment it is used for.Originally posted by Bushbasher View PostI inspected the tyre and I don't think it deflated and then caused the plate to break off. I think that, as the plate broke, the tyre has ripped open as it passed under the suspension arm. There's no sign of deflation/failure on the outer facing edge of the tyre. Anyway, a tyre failure shouldn't really result in catastrophic damage like that.Sold the Prado. Now FJ Cruiser

My sister and her ex (husband number 3) had a custom trailer built by Maddington trailers (WA). It was super heavy duty with dual stainless water tanks up top and a 145 litre diesel tank underneath complete with pump , hose and nozzle. The camper was a top loader, all the gear went in the top and it also had a big bin on the front. It had independent suspension. As I followed them up the Tanami I watched as the stub axles slowly bent upwards causing the tyres to lean inwards at the top. At Rabbit Flat we turned the stub axles around 180 degrees. One finally failed and we had to use the spare. We managed to get into Kunnunurra where we pulled the stub axle plates off the trailer and had a local engineer weld some support gussets onto the axles. That lasted all the way to Drysdale Station off the Gibb River Road where the whole chassis fell out of the trailer. The diesel tank was tossed and star pickets used to hold the thing together for the trip down to Broome and then home to Perth. The trailer was obviously seriously overloaded for it's design and they got their money back after threat of legal action.Dave

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.
