Just joined the club with a GRJ120!

G'day all,

Thought I'd pop on and say now i've just picked up a GRJ120 - love the thing and am very happy with it.

I'm a mad keen fisherman so looking forward to spending some time in the car and boat shortly!

Not sure if there are any basic but useful mods that anyone would recommend - the boat I'm towing weights about a tonne and I'm not a hardcore offroader, the car has only been driven on the blacktop so will look to get some new rubber in due course.

If the rear end is dragging on the bitumen with the boat hooked on, then you might want to look into suspension. However, in general, the suspension is the last thing to do once you have figured out what of the 'heavier' items you are going to put on the car such as a bullbar, dual batts, winch, rear drawers.

If you are going to be travelling long distances at night, a set of spotties are a good investment. This will mean that you'll have to buy at least a nudge bar to mount the spotties on.

Hey mate,

Picked up an 05 GXL - beats the sedan I was driving any day of the week!

Thanks for the suggestions, will probably do tyres and suspension in due course - looking also at nudge bar or bull bar options plus might build some rear drawers.
