Thanks everyone for your advices, comments and well wishes, I have learnt a lot online and offline.
I'd like to think I now am more prepared for low fuel scenarios.

We finally made it out of Melbourne today, heading north to Fraser Island. So far so good, only drama was trying to fit the whole kitchen in the Prado, amongst Maxtrax, Fridge, fishing gears . Will report on the trip when we get back!

          Hi Brad,
The Yoko G012 went very well on sand. I thought I might have some punctures with the tree roots on the way to Waddy Point but it was fine. I ran with 21PSI.
The G012 tyres did look soft compared to others on the island (Coopers, MTZ, BFG).

Just before I left I had a brand new replacement tyre under warranty from Yoko as the old one had a slow leak and Bob Jane couldn't find it. So I was running two old tyres at the front (16k) and two brand new ones at the back (replacement and spare). We had to run through some massive rain on the way back out of Sydney but the traction was always rock solid.

          Andy
