I'm with you Rags. Only people who would "Dis" a Dolmar/Makita are those who have never used/owned one. Higher end models are similar pricing to a Stihl and every bit as good. Give them a go - you will be pleasantly surprised. Some models also have a larger cc rating engine for a given blade length than competitors saws hence more real grunt. Cheers.

Thankyou all for the suggestions, feedback, contributions and humour.

      I got a price for a Husky 236e at $399.00 before bargaining.

So my attention is now either a much better price on this unit or on a similar Stihl or Makita (Dolmar)

Just thought to all of you who don't use a chainsaw to often, go and buy your selfs a plastic wedge as well. There is no point having a saw if you have it jammed in a log. A wedge will get you out of trouble most of the time.

You might be able to push for a slightly better Price. As mentioned earlier, the 236e is the new model. Most saws now are coming out with low emissions to comply etc. the 236e does have a few extra features like smart start and tool less chain tensioning, also with a little more grunt again. Like mine you can also run up to a 16" Bar on this saw. Shame your aren't in Brisbane, cause I could give the name of the Mower Centre that I bought mine from as he may still have stock of the older model.

                  cheers

Agreed however they can only sell the consumer saws online. I wanted the top handle arborist saw but they wouldn't sell it to me.

Lol. This is what happens when they create silly movies like Texas Chainsaw massacre. Now they have to limit the weapons of choice So unfair on the purest arborist.
