AAMI not insuring drawers

I called up AAMI to update my accessories list on the Prado, and was told that they would not insure drawers as they were not on their list.
I am going to check with other insurers, but just wonder what your experience is with your insurer?

Andy, when I recently went to renew my insurance, I discovered that my insurer would not cover me any longer because of the amount of accessories I wanted listed. After ringing around, I could not find anyone prepared to insure me for an agreed amount or cover me at all because of either the list of accessories/modifications, in particular the power chip. I settled for insurance via a broker, who insured every accessory and modification, anywhere in Australia.

What do they mean not on their list? Their list of accessories they approve of?

RAA lets you have what you want as long as they're legal modifications.

Did they begin to budge when you told them you'd have to look for insurance elsewhere?

Yes the list that they approve of.
The person on the phone did not move at all when I was trying work out with her if there was any way that could be insured. I didn't have enough time so ended up only paying for 6 months with the intention of checking out other insurers when I got back from our trip.

Try Allianz, they had no dramas with a list of accessories as long as you where to drive on a gazetted road or private property with permission.

I agree with Troy, give allianz a go..when my last 120 was written off they replaced absolutely everything without a whinge.

Trust me the list was extensive.

Great insuranxe company.

It could be a good thing as when my second car was written off three months ago, AAMI lost the car for four days and then took there time to pay me out.
No longer insured with AAMI

Never had a problem with AAMI (2 minor claims). However I have never had to list a lot of accessories until now.

I'm with AMMI and they've been great, haven't had to list alot of accessories but had a claim with them.

Dropped it off at the assesment centre, taxi back to work, cash settlement for the damaged toyo steps so i could put on some proper ones, taxi to the smash repairs and picked up the car, plus when some further damage became apparant no dramas getting that fixed up too, and no increase in premium when i renewed a month or so later.

A mate of mine wrote off his Navara which was kitted out pretty well and had nothing but trouble with AAMI trying to get his payout.
I had a small claim through CGU recently and was extremely satisfied with their service.

I use NRMA, have done so all my driving life, and have never had any problems with them. I list my accessories for each 4WD, they are included on the policy and I keep all receipts should I need a claim.

AAMI = WORST INSURANCE COMPANY IN THE WORLD!

3 years of stress from those f&ckers after a 3 day old car was damaged. Ended up selling it just so I could be rid of their shitty repairs and their "Lifetime warranty".. Asshats..

I have my Prado with CGU thru a broker and this year added the accessories to the list, 18k of cover cost me 10 bucks more on the premium!!

Just have a look at who underwrites many insurance companies, you will find that AAMI have many companies under its umbrella.
But with the drawers, I believe most insurance companies say if it is attached to the vehicle, then it is insured.
