Matt, I have been using Lanotec for about 4 years.

Have done planks on my jetty with the liquid mixture, and the boat trailer with the grease.

The trailer has 2 wheels on the back to assist with retrieval and the steel axle on each was flaking with rust.
I scrubbed the flaky bits off and put on the grease 4 years ago and touch it up every so often and not one bit of flake now.

The grease needs to be left in the sun to melt before applying.

I've seen the result of Pedro's work on the trailer. Lanotec grease worked a treat.

The trailer lives in a very salty environment. It's one of those units that permanently lives on a ramp down to the water - just off the back porch - and gets a regular dunking. The rust damage had been progressing nicely until Pedro greased it up. Now the rust has stopped and there is no sign of it continuing to corrode.

I've used the spray under the Prado for a while now. It also brings that pretty black shine back to the underbody bash plates - sorry - it doesn't take the dents out.

Bunnings has got the 750ml spray bottles for around $15 and the 1L (not a spray bottle) for around $20.

This is not the economical way to do it but I haven't found a supplier of a 5L drum yet.

I told a lie re the time I have been using Lanotec.

Just checked my records and it was in 2001 , so that is 6 years.

At the time I bought a 20 litre drum and it cost me roughly just under $300.

Haven't bought any lately, but in checking price for some car cleaner from Counteract I see they stock it and are on the Gold Coast.

Just polished caravan with their Paint Sealant and it does a great job. The pre cleaner gets the hard stuff off easily too.

I head up the north coast at least twice a year and do alot of beach driving / fishing / surfing ......and for years I have emptied 2 X 750ml spray bottles under my 4X4 before each trip.....great protection

Guys, for those using this on their cars, how long before you hit the beach do you apply this stuff, ie allow any time for drying etc.
Secondly is their any after smell etc inside of the car???

I usually chuck it on a day or 2 before hand but it dries fairly quickly (under an hour).

There is a nice fresh "inside the shearing shed" aroma for a while but it doesn't tend to get inside the car.

Just take care that you don't spray too much of it on the exhaust manifold by accident - I did - this stuff HOT can attract Kiwis from a thousand yards away. :lol: :lol:

I got two litres of this Lanotec (lanolin oil) product that John Rooth from 4WD Monthly, always raves about...

How much Lanotec stuff did you use on a trailer? I am thinking on doing my CT up and not sure how much I would need. The local Supercheap
only got Lanotec in 400g Aerosol cans...

I've been using the 750 mL spray bottle and the 1 L bottles from Bunnings and would use about 2 L on the Prado before a beach run.

That is until I saw Pedro's post earlier on in this thread.

I normally pressure clean under the Prado after 4WD. Do you think there would be any advantage of applying Lanotec or would it just get blated off by the pressure cleaner?

I still pressure clean the underneath after a trip - and a layer of the lanotec still remains.

Over time you can get a bit of a build up so I hit the whole underneath with a degreaser - then pressure clean - and start again.

These Prados are pretty tidy underneath but they also carry a lot of finnicky electrical connections. The thing I particularly like about Lanotec is it's ability to seal these connectors and protect them from water interferring with important electrics.

The 5L drum from counteract cost about $133 at the door.. So 5x1L bottles from bunnings would be cheaper...

I found the heavy duty lanolin in 5 liter drums from blackwoods.com.au
the cost is $87.09 plus gst... and it could be picked up from their warehouse here in Melbourne... I believe they got a warehouse in Perth as well.
