  • Personalised random generated ads

    Hi

Just lately I have been using google chrome and not sure if its coincidence that places I have searched for using google are now coming up on the ads on the forum.

Luckily I've had my pants on when gooogling or it may have been a bit weird.

Does google learn and does the forum get like .000001c per ad?

    just wondering.

Tassie, if you are connected to the net, NOTHING you do is private. Facebook, search engines, the forum owner, your isp provider, your rewards provider, your cc company etc etc all know more about you than you do. Don't fight it Tassie, it wont affect you too much, but your kids will be stuffed from a privacy perspective for sure.

They will walk down the mall and 3d adverts will prtrude at them directing them to the seller of the xp7000 they searched 3 weeks earlier on there voice activated iPhone110000. That will be the one that is the implant or should I say I-plant integrated type.

They will know your preferences, desires, bad habits, favourite position, size (pre and post all alterations), how many artificial organs you have, when they were last serviced and general health which they get from the public toilet that analyses what you left in the urinal or bowel.

Google Chrome will look antiquated compaed to what is install in the next twenty years.

I'm fairly certain there is a level of "learning" for google, on commonly searched things. I also saw a news report once, somewhere, regarding how things get "persponalised" as per your IP address, ever noticed that most search items are local to your area first?

Not sure one the rest, but i'm sure there is some benefit to having ads, or why would anyone have them?

The algorithms are just starting to get better in AU. In the US you search for something and the next page you have an ad for it. Just like PP, ads pay and you'd be surprised at the ad revenue sites like PP generate for their owners.

Or you could use this http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm won't stop them tracking you but it will send ads to the bin where they belong.

          Thanks people

I dont mind the ads actually. But what is strange is I have recently looked at openuniversity.org at work and now the thing is following me around like that chick from the pub in 1986 that I said "I'll call you".

Damn thing is here as I type. Oh, and the Amarok....I cant bloody afford it okay....enough already!

I keep getting investment ads. No I have not looked at investments, but i have mentioned spending the annual budget of a small country on my Prado lol.

And I have NO idea why rsvp keeps popping up, I wonder if SWMBO'd has been using my laptop??????

Bugger all is the answer. They hardly pay anything via PP.

I think it comes from having a Google account and being logged in to Google when browsing the web. I'm pretty sure there is an option that you need to un-tick stops your browsing activity being logged.

I'm logged in to Analytics and Webmaster Tools most of the time (which is the same account as a Gmail account). I'm seeing ads for the Contour video camera - I searched it and visited the site a month ago and am still seeing them.

Piggy is right though. There's really not much revenue generated by the ads and with visitors blocking them and using tapatalk it is reduced even further.

Good call on AdBlock ntp, use it and love it. Makes ebay look a little funny but I got sick of seeing a damn Ssangyong and Mike 'Who Cares Wins' Whitney on PradoPoint all the time so turned it back on a few days ago.
