        The fact Toyota put forward the petrol for test is finally acknowledgement the D4D is a dinosaur of an engine that wasn't that great to begin with IMO. Petrol 150 did well but I think when the lease on my 120 ends it will be ungraded to a 200.

              I love the D4D and for me it is the most suitable engine. The rego if the 4cyl is way less than the 4wd i previously had therefore keeping running costs lower. I have had V8 4wd's and the touring range of the diesel was the plus for me. Mind you if I wanted a predominantly more play vehicle I would have gone the V6 and been able to perform as well as Hutch and Richo!

                Lackey, Did you read the article?
                The 2 comments that stand out to me were;

                Fuel consumption better than expected, but well behind some contenders
                ...and

                I can only imagine what the result may have been if if we had been supplied with a turbo-diesel Prado
                ....

                I think the D4D is a long way from being a dinasour.

                .....PS: Congrats Boomslang.... great read :-)

                    Congrats to Toyota for first second and really third as well. I don't think the D4D is dead yet but it's good to see the V6 get a run. Also like how they said the economy was basically the same as the diesel patrol.
