  • PradoPoint Members in Thailand

I'm in Thailand at the moment with the Family for Christmas,And was wandering is there any PradoPoint members here.We are here for about Three weeks and I have seen plenty of different types of Toyota Prado looking vehicles here.Once we have finished shopping I will try to get some photos onto the site.
Any way I hope that every one that reads this post has a very merry Christmas and an even better New Year than last one,And I hope that you all get more of a chance to get out there and see more in you're Prados.
    All the best from Big-Trev.

One of the most common Prado looking vehicles over there is the Toyota Fortuner. I hired one when I was there last year and will be hiring one again when I am in Thailand April 2012. Not a bad vehicle to drive but driving over there...... thats another thing all together......

Hi Skulldrager yes it is a very different world to what we are a custom to in Aus.I have to drive from Bangkok to a small village called singburie which is about Two hours North.Once you get through the nightmare of Bangkok the rest is quite easy.Definitely gives you a different perspective of the driving at home.I always come back a very sober driver for a few weeks at least. The one thing about Thai drivers is that they are mostly respectful and will let you in when you put you're blinker on.And the motor bikes are another story.

Good luck. I hope you find some 4x4ers over there.
I'd love to join fellow 4x4ers overseas. USA especially!

When I was in Phuket a few weeks ago I was talking with our driver about his Fortuner. I told him I had a Prado and he nearly crashed the car turning around looking at me saying, "you must be the big boss!" Apparently if you drive a imported car over there you must be rich because of their 200% importation tax.

I like the look of the Fortunate beter than the Prado.I have seen one with a lift,Snorkel, bulbar and winch and it looks very impressive. When I see it again I will get a photo. We are at Gotchan Island at the moment so the chances are pretty good of catching it again.

I had the same experience, during our time there we did see a 150 (work reasons) but it was driven in from Burma for what we needed to do and then driven back. Love the Fortuner but, I would have to say if they were out in Australia that I would be driving one of those...

Heres another one, nice 35's on there. Notice the Lexus badge??? Must be a similar thing that the dunnydore drivers do when they stick the chevvy badges on there!

Did you happen to see that 4x4 shop around the place named "WAR"? Their logo is a direct rip off from ARB's logo. I seen quite a few rigs like the Fortuner pictured above and heaps of Hilux's with the stickers on them also. Mainly in Phuket, they caught my eye because I thought they where ARB stickers.
