  • Can the ARB CKMP12 be modified to run lockers?

I've currently got a ckmp12 portable arb compressor in a box that I'm considering mounting in my engine bay, however before I goto all the trouble of doing this, in my forward thinking, I want to have the option of lockers. (don't ask why I didn't just get the CKMA12 originally ;-) ). Am I better to sell my current kit and get the CKMA12, or can the portable version be modified to run lockers?
    Thx in advance

I think ARB can modify it for about $100. That's only going off memory of what a friend what quoted, so it could be more, could be less.

couldlnt be to hard surely it will only be in the fittings and a few metres of wire and a switch, does the portable version have a pressure switch?
had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

Hey Samo, yeah comes with the pressure cut off switch if that us what your referring too? Also the 'A' version comes wth a small air tank, which is apparently required to run the lockers. It really depends how much effort vs resale of the 'P' version.

ARB are doing a Xmas special when you purchase a locker, you get the high output compressor for free.
Best bet is to do this, then onsell the older compressor.

You have two options. The first is to get the replacement manifold tube and solenoids for your compressor or buy the manifold kit that is shown with the details of the CKMTA12.

Go to this page on ARB's website:

            http://www.arb.com.au/products/arb-a...rts-Manual.php

Then download the service and parts manual (twice or three times depending how many pages you want to open). Go to page 4 of 4 and click on the link for both the CKMP12 and CKMA12 (you will need to open the manual twice because it opens in the same page). Open a third time if you want to check out the CKMTA12 manifold kit too. It may be shown elsewhere but I only noticed it there.

This will give you a run down on the bits and pieces necessary to use the portable compressor. You can compare the parts list you have and what you will need. Essentially you need the manifold tube that can accomodate the locker solenoids. Not sure if it is as simple as tapping two 1/4" NPT holes in the manifold though. If you want to do the job yourself quote the part numbers and get pricing or ask your dealer to do it. Most important though is a more permanent power supply that the two aligator clips with the portable compressor, maybe set up an Anderson plug for the clips and also inside the cabin.

The other way as I mentioned is to buy the manifold kit/solenoid assembly complete from the CKMTA12 and plumb this into the outlet of the compressor as per the instructions shown with that compressor. Again call an ARB distributer or HO and get pricing. I would think this is the easiest way to go as you could simply mount the manifold kit somewhere and hook the compressor to that as needed. It should be simple to do this and you could tee the outlet so you could have both locker activation and air supply for tyres.

Oh and the lockers and all the bits that go with them.

Well even I wanted to use my portable compressor for the lockers ..... ARB quoted me around $100 for the extra parts and another $150 dollars for the fitting..... However they just fitted new compressor ..... Stating they can't spend too much time on ordering the parts and then fitting them on to the old compressor..... That's my story
