Hey,
After reading about noobies engine getting cooked http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...ighlight=pwado post #7 and in the thread there is talk of a low coolant alarm by Engine Saver, i thought this product is a necessity.
There are 2 styles of sensor;
The first is the low coolant sensor, which has the probe to monitor only coolant level. Reading t303's post where the madman unit didn't alarm until basically blow dried, Peter (at Alltrac) assured the materials used in the engine saver will read when there is no coolant, regardless of residual coolant on the probe or steam.
The second sensor is the low coolant probe and also has the monitor you attach to the head to read the temp of the head. This sensor is handy for a couple of points. One being as iantz has mentioned, if you seize a water pump and the engine gets too hot (all with scangauges prob have this under control anyway) or even if towing or some hard driving and the head gets too hot you know to back off a bit. The temp gauge won't let you know this. The Scangauge would, as i understand it, cover these scenarios.
Pricing...
RRP of the low water monitor is $189 and the dual monitor is $275
Peter did not discuss a discounted price (yet) as he wants at least 10 purchasers... i think we can do this without really even trying.
I have tried to 'do the right thing' and contact PradoAdmin to get a Group Buy set up as i believe this product is worthwhile to put to the open forum as this is not an official group buy post.
So anyway, i sent Aaron a detailed message requesting to put the low coolant alarm buy into the Group Buy area.
I also sent him a visitor message asking if he had received my pm. I have seen by his last activity that he has logged on and should have seen the pm and visitor message (i did not get notified that his inbox is full). To which, i am pretty disappointed that he hasn't responded even if it was to acknowledge the message and deny the request. I feel the group buy of the low coolant alarm would have been taken up by quite a few pp'ers (especially after reading this: http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...ighlight=pwado post #7) and even though i haven't got as far as getting a discounted price from the retailer, i am happy to still give it a go.
Email me at [email protected] if you are interested.
When you email me, put 'coolant alarm' for the subject and let me know your username as well as if it is just the low coolant alarm or the low coolant/heat sensor alarms in the body of the email. My personal opinion of the heat sensor and the unit in the cabin is a bit 'hit and miss' setting the alarm parameters. I will get a heat sensor which gives an actual degrees celsius readout. So i will be buying just the low coolant sensor.
Any one interested from interstate in getting a low coolant alarm, the package is not large and in my opinion would cost maybe $3 to $5 for postage (but i would find out for sure)
Thanks to those who have already sent me emails. I will reply with an email received message so you know i got it. As Engine saver closes down from 24/12 to 6/1, i won't go back Peter until then, so that gives enough time for people to email me with expressions of interest. Obviously this will be no commitment to buy as we won't know the purchase price until i can give him quantities. Any responses from Peter regarding prices will be emailed to those who email me, not posted on the forum.
I have absolutely no affiliation with the business selling the product and the only financial 'gain' i get will be the discounted price.
I will 'bump' this every couple of days so as many people get the chance to see this.
Comments are welcome from anyone who already has or knows of someone with this unit installed.
Cheers,
John
