  • Anybody bought these Lightforce XGT's with retrofit HID available on eBay?

Checking out lighting options for the Prado when it arrives. I had the standard halogen XGT's fitted to my GQ, I like the idea of another set but in HID. The genuine lightforce HID's are a bit on the exy side though. Has anyone used these ones available on eBay? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/110753157...84.m1438.l2649

Would like to stick to an internally ballasted light for neatness of installation and water proofing.

    Cheers,
    Dave.

    Hi Dave,

While I have not used that specific brand of HID kit, I have been running a "cheap" HID upgrade in my IPF's lights for 3 years now with no issues. One thing you will find is that most if not all evil bay HID kits have a longer "warm up" time before they reach full output in comparision to genuine or brand name lights.
Personally it is not an issue as after the initial delay from cold the delay is not noticable, if your lights are off long enough to cool down there is probably a lot of traffic anyway.

I bought my 55w HID conversion from that seller, installed them internally without even taking the spotties off the car. Mine are Genesis though. Kit seems pretty good so far.

Well in all fairness there's only been one response directly related to the lights in question, though I do appreciate all the responses. I didn't really have any more to add to the thread or questions to ask, so I left it be.

I've changed tack a little, I bought a set of the genuine custom Lightforce XGT's with the external 70W ballast, "Flamethrower" I think they call them. Can't wait to get them set up and see how they go.

            Cheers,
            Dave.

G'day, im getting a set of hella's which come with halogen h3 55w globes. I'm just about to buy a 55w HID kit from eBay for around the $100 mark, from all accounts should be a big improvement.

Just to add to the topic, my spots converted to 55w HID were shining a daylight patch 1km down the road but my immediate surroundings were pretty average, i bought 1 combo lens and its transformed the lights, might even buy another so i have a mix of both with the 2 lights.

Hi mate. I got a couple of 100w converted xgts of eBay. And have been very happy with them. I posted some pics of beam shots on my buildup. Haven't been able to fault them.

Thanks guys. I think they should do the trick alright. My old GQ had the standard XGTs and I ran a combo cover on one and left the other as a spot, they had good enough spread but lacked a little in brightness I always felt, I'm hoping that won't be a problem with these. If they seem too bright I'll just run combo covers on both. I'll let you all know what I think in a couple weeks, they should be fitted up on the 21st
