Question on Warranty Claims

To make a long story short, I have submitted a claim to a Toyota dealership, they have sent off the claim and it was rejected because it requires further photo evidence so they can resubmit it.

I am nearing the end of my warranty period and I was told today that if I don't get the car back in before my warranty expires then the claim can't be processed under warranty.

I would have thought that seeing as the claim was opened during the warranty period and is ongoing until resolved (either 100% rejected or accpeted) then it would be covered. What I assume is happening, is the claim that was rejected by Toyota requiring more photos will be closed and a new one opened with the new photos and if that is done outside the warranty period then it is not covered.

Anyone been through something like this before?

Absolute rubbish. If you submit a warranty claim to a dealership, it their responsibility to determine if it's valid ( under the provisions of the Toyota's warranty document ), as long as your submission is presented during the warranty period, regardless of how late in this period. If there is a delay in determining the validity of the claim, either by the dealership or Toyota, it's not you problem. If it's determined a valid claim, it must be honoured. This is now common law in Australia. Many years ago, small unscrupulous car dealerships profiteered from restrictive warranties.

What is the warranty that needs photographic evidence. If its a servicable warranty, mechanical, take it to city toyota northbridgeand ask tfor Chriss. As i have said in another post he always goes out of his way to make things right, even if what he does pi**es of the management, hes beenthier so long he can move mountains.

I feel the photographic pain, I get double vision through my windscreen, they want a photo and won't send a toyota rep to check it without a photo... Ever tried to take a photo of/through glass? It'a terribly hard.
It's frustrating as even their mechanics can see the issue.
Oh well, just venting.
On the warranty side, if the case has been opened before end of warranty period they must honour it.

It has been a problem for years with Toyota warranty claims. It was so bad some years ago in N.S.W. that the National Warranty Manager was sent from Melbourne to N.S.W. to sort out the problems.

So long as you have logged a warranty claim before the end of the warranty period, you should be O.K. If you continue to have problems, make a complaint to your State Consumer Affairs Dept. or equivalent in W.A..
