Based on the recent announcement, it looks like we get visits from Toyota staff I hope they are reading some of the technical, service and delivery thread we have on the forum, and not just trawling for ways to sting us :!:

This forum would be a highly valuable feedback utility for them, not only for their head honchos, but also their sales, logistics and technical staff :!: Some of the information that is freely available on or through this 'portal' could potentially save them some money and headaches :!:

        But seriously for 2 mins......
It don't have to be a Toyota Spy who visits. It just may well be someone who took offence to that kind of posting, and sent the link to Toyota, just cos they can. You will find that Toyota don't give a rats about websites like ours, and they wouldn't bother using any of the material supplied by our members.
I experienced this on the Toyota Surf Association website when I had my surf. I was a moderator there and was privvy to admin issues. Toyota see us as a fanbased website.... in their words......
        My 2 cents

I agree it is a sensitive issue but you can,t stop anyone from logging on & reading any posting.

The naming of Companies & people by name when it involves private documents is always flaunt with danger but so is altering vehicles from their standard form not only for legal liability issues but also warranty.

Done with care I feel everyone should know what issues are out there. (example:- why some customers have a ridiculously long wait for their vehicles over others? Rear crown wheel & pinion failures? Thumping in transmission after braking)

It would be good to have a Toyota delegate to actually try to answer a few queries (we did have one for a while) Where are you Salesgirl?
Trying to get sensible answers from Toyota can be very difficult at times.

I think that Toyota would look at this site as a promotion for their product rather than critter-sizing.

As Aaron & Pradogxlv6 "Sorry" (Matt. M.O.D.E.R.A.T.O.R) have pointed out be a little careful.
I have said to much already, but I feel better now!

By all means delete this post if it offends.

          Bye for now,

Do you automatically void your warranty if you take your Prado offroad?

If so, then Toyota reps reading such information from a member could use it against that person. That's not to say that warranty issues arose from the off-road adventure... but it can be construed as such.

PS That's why some persons hide their registration numbers on late model vehicles at the drag strips... so dealers can't void their warranties.

              Mate, I hope not !!

Don't really know how much they carry on, I just make sure my truck is spotless when it visits the dealership. Better to be safe, than sorry !! :P
i tried that once, had the outside spick and span, even the wheels so shiny you needed sunnies to look at them.... but i got a comment that when they put it up on the hoist the amount of mud that fell off on the techies head was significant! i laughed...

I wonder if they read the stuff we said about how useless some toyota techies and salesmen are.

                Hope so...
I remember one thread they got heaps.

But they know me< I ring the head office when I have issues.
I still have their number in my mobile, if anyone wants it.
Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.

I've been on other forums on the web who've had close shaves with legal issues. You do need to be very careful mentioning specific business and individual names. While things said in a positive light are no problem at all, negative things can land you in hot water.

Really, you do need to be able to state your negative opinion though. Otherwise what's the point of a lot of our discussions. It can get sticky though if you want to relate a bad experience you had at a particular place and want to name the business for the benefit of forum members. I see no problem with that myself as long as it isn't taken too far.

And wouldn't we really benefit from some input from Toyota?? Geez reading this thread makes me think they're the enemy or something (Death to SPIES!!). Although I see the modders point of view.

                        Hi Fly Drive,

A very interesting thread, I told my local dealer about Pradopoint when I went to order my GXL and they Indicated that they had no idea about Pradopoint wether they did or did not I am not sure.

I believe that Toyota Australia should have a representative providing Technical or Sales input to such websites as ours and have enough experience to not get involved in Slinging matches/ Political issues and I guess not give away sensitive IP.

Thats my my bit, hope Tojo spies are reading this, thanks Mod you made some very valid points about possible Legal Issues, but this is a land of free speech Aye :!:

I'm relatively new here and I’m not a "Toyota Spy" although I did spy on a Holden once but it had a couple of hot chicks in it. :P :P

I understand that Slander/defamation etc are an issue but as long as there is clear evidence (such as the letter) then what's the big deal.:?::!: I don't see anywhere on the letter that says
"Confidential" and surely the content is not a big secret :?: Perhaps the legal dept can provide us with a list of orders V deliveries to prove that there are no queue jumpers and to explain the delays then there wouldn't be a need for speculation and ill fealing. I have not read anywhere here where people are not willing to wait. It's being stuffed around without explanation that upsets people.

I don't have my Prado yet but one of the reasons I ordered was because of the "Positive" feedback in these forums. Toyota should be thanking you not sending you Solicitors letters.

If only Toyota responded to their customers needs with the same speed and conviction there would be no need for negative feedback.

                          Nuf said.
