The original reason we bought it was because it was the right price in the class of vehicles we were looking at. Soooo glad I went with a Prado, best vehicle I've owned, and its danced circles around some other 4x4s we've travelled with. Comfortable, reliable and just all around awesome!

Because its the perfect mix of comfort and the ability to go offroad, I even have to wrestle the keys from my wife after months of hearing that the prado is going to be too big (we upgraded from a zook) so it must be comfortable and easy to drive.

Because the missus loved the Prado new but reckons I ruined it with that ugly bullbar, snorkel, 2" lift and all that other rubbish I put on it. We still have the Starlet bought new in 1996, never caused any grief and still going strong.

                    I Love my Prado.

They are the best 4x4's in my opinion. They are a perfect all round vehicle for everyday family use, for traveling & adventure.

This is our 2nd 120 series which was an '05 VX. Got rid of it. Then bought a VE GTS. Soon after I missed being up high & going off road. So I sold it & bought a '08 D4D GXL.

We looked into a 150 series but we personally didn't like them. The 120 series are our favourite.

Me & the Mrs have agreed that we will NEVER make the mistake of selling our Prado again.

I bought my first one because it was cheaper than an 80/100 series at the time. I like the first one so much that I bought another one. Now four of my firends now own them as well.

I had previously only owned cruisers (40 and 80 series) and loved them. When it came to upgrading the 80, the 200 was too expensive for what you got and I had in intention of 'downgrading' to a 100 series. Then after driving a couple of 150s and 200s for work, the 150 impressed me enough to start looking at it. Besides the additional accessories you get for much less $, I found it to be more forgiving to drive and very capable off road (we were driving hire cars and therefore treated them as such with my employer worrying about insurance). Since buying the 150 I haven't looked back. By far the best all round car I have driven.
Although when I visit Landcruiser Mountain Park I sometimes wish that I still had my 80 until the automatic everything starts up in the Prado and drives up and down the hills for me.

                          Gooday Guys

I a new to the forum & have found it to be very informative & useful.

I have recently sold my Discovery 3 & am considering an Altitude Spec GXL.

Has any one done the same.

I have been avidly reading the suspension thread as that is one area I believe needs improvement.

Both my wife and I are impressed with the level of equipment supplied on a GXL.

I would like the Altitude spec and hope I can get one for $4 - 5000 over what I have been quoted for a GXL.

                          Great forum

                          Regards

                            I like the Prado GXL

I bought it for the promised it keep... one day it prove the big time. My Mrs was driving and had a very very bad rollover. on a 3ltr trurbo prado. she came scratch less and me with one finger amputation. If its not the prado we would have been at the pearly gates... Thats what a Prado is......

My family moved to Australia from Canada in Jan 2001. My Dad is dad set on getting a Diesel Cruiser at the time. The only problem. Toyota Didn't really sell a cruiser diesel auto (my mom had enough to deal with just driving on the other side of the road).

Dad saw the prado and really liked, so that's what he ended up buying.

My parents ended up moving back to Canada in 2006 and I bought it off of them. I've thought a couple of times about selling but I can't really be bothered to because it does everything I need to do, without a fuss.

                              I had mental issues when I owned a Discovery.......But it's sorted now!

Our family grew up and left home, so we downsized from our 2nd long term cruiser to buy this car new in 2007. I am very much missing the size of the boot, the shear size and do ability of the cruiser. The Prado is good, but it is not a Landcruiser, despite the badge on the back. I am currently seriously considering going back to a cruiser. The Prado just does not do what the cruiser can. The clutch on the car needs to be upgraded too. I have never had a clutch problem before in forty years of driving. This one feels as weak as anything. Put it in reverse with a load on the back and it smokes. Not good. The engine has gone into limp mode on several occasions. Toyota just shrugs their shoulders and says "could be anything". Not very good, when you are hundreds of mms from anywhere!
