I can't believe they thought just flushing the oil would fix the problem!

I went to buy a car once where the owner was proud of the fact it had never "needed" servicing in over 60,000kms. It did run quiet but when I pulled the dipstick it was like tar, and pity the person who bought it.

in 2002 I did a service and oil change on a friends HQ holden he had it since new and was the first time an oil change was done on it and did it rattle after the sludge was removed an engine flush and 60 weight oil was put in . Some times it pays just to leave them

Some people wont/cant be told, my sister one of them, she would rather spend $100 on shoes then complains when the engine goes bang, shes on a different car now but the corolla she had did around the 200k mark for memory but had 3 motors in that time due to lack of oil changes, she reckons was cheaper to just drive it till it went bang and stick a reco motor in it then pay for servicing, told her if she does it to the one now she has shes in for a rude shock, will be a few grand for motor replacment in the zuk she has now.....We had a bloke trying to claim warranty when I worked for toyota as his corolla come in on the back of a towie, had done a hard 30 thou and was siezed up due to no oil change except the first 1000k one........again some people will never learn..Cheers Steve

As a former bimmer owner/enthusiast, I had to hold back tears when I saw those images. Oh, and I think it was 60000 miles (96000km)...

                WORD OF WARNING.......
DO NOT EVER USE AN ENGINE FLUSH...
Reason being is the sludge falls to the bottom of the oil pan, it then gets sucked up into the oil pickup, it then blocks, and no oil can get pumped through the engine, the next thing you have is a major repair, or you're in the need of a new engine, if you ever end up with sludge in a motor, there are two ways you can go about getting rid of it depending on the amount of sludge, and they are, pull the motor down and wash the internals, and if it is not really bad, then do around 5 oil changes in total, every 1000k's, then return to the recommended service intervals.

Had a similar experience when I was an apprentice, Toyota Surf 2.8L I think, had to be towed off Fraser Island after only 14 500k's. This idiot didn't even get the free first service which, back then, included oil change due to it being a run in oil. Bloody thing took me a week to strip and clean. Can you believe he argued it should have been a warranty job, including the tow!

yep i just drove a 2002 toyota echo 2000kms and its last service was at 90,000kms it now sitting on 122,000km with no service and yet it returned around 5.5 liters per 100 sitting at 115km/h with aircon on the whole way. oh and it has a half blown out front shock and a slight oil leak from the rocker cover. Any othe brand and it would have died i reckon.
