  • What insurance do you use

Hey guys just thought i would ask the question after a recent break in and nothing bloody covered becasue it wasnt listed eg sunglasses ipod hema navigator just the usual stuff you have in your glovebox but racq wont insure as they werent listed on my policy anyway it has got me thinking what are they going to cover if something happens when i go to the cape this year what are they going to cover or not cover in case of an accident so i ask the question who do you use and why

    Thanks for your help

I went with DGA because they cover all my mods (so long as it's legal), at the value I request. But more importantly for you; they apparently cover all off road conditions, luggage and camping gear.

I heard an add for NRMA [home contents insurance] in which they where promoting cover for your items when they are stolen from you away from your home.I would assume they would cover items mentioned above, maybe worth checking out

I am with GIO. Was with DGA with previous 4WD and no complaints but have other insurance with GIO and bulk deal was worth it for me. They cover most mods and accessories and adjust agreed value accordingly but any extras carried in the vehicle such as camping gear are not covered so possibly not as comprehensive as DGA. And yes, most home contents insurance can be extended (at a cost) to cover personal items while out of the house.

Like alot of us,better to bundle all your policies together for savings
We are with GIO [ GEE I OWE insurance] home contents , home buildings, 4 cars comp/greenslips ,1 campertrailer and they don't miss us, but always have had good service from them. Then there is wifes business insurances, private health insurance, life insurance, probably miss one like the pet budgie insurance ,i am scared to add up the total premiums paid to insurance companies each year

sounds like dga might be worth giving a go dont mind paying a bit extra if something happens at least i know i am covered racq wont cover the 2 kids car seats if they are stolen even though they are 600 bucks each because they are not attached to the vehicle they just keep getting worse big wake up call for me lucky not a big claim time to hunt around for all my insurances

I'm with gio now, they cover most mods lift, chip exhaust but contents is very limited. For the new car I am thinking about Shannon's has anyone had experience with them ?

                      Hello Teamdevo,

I have the cars with APIA and my house and contents with AAMI. When the bushfires burnt my sheds, fencing , workshop tools, off road gear amd camping gear, AAMI covered everything except the offroad gear stating that it was part of my vehicle. APIA refused to payout because it was not listed on the policy and was not a permanent part of the vehicle.

Considering that I lost 9 landrover alloy wheels with good offroad tyres together with a HF radio, hand winch and all of my recovery gear it added up quickly.

Made up for it with all other items being replaced new for old as per the policy.

If it is permanently installed and listed it will generally be covered but loose stuff is gone.

                      regards

                      Ross

                            "DGA Insurance Brokers"
I also have a friend who goes through them. I don't know if it's always the case, but both of our DGA policies are underwritten by Allianz. A little ironic given that neither of our vehicles can be insured directly through Allianz due to modification limits in their policy.
