Caught an article this morning that could mean the end of stakes thru the sidewall. Don't know ho they'd go on the sand.

Michelin Tires
Look for 'em in August.
These tires are made in South Carolina, USA.
They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

C'mon AMTS !!! What else you carry 3 sets of tyres One for the road, one for the gravel and one for the sand !!! SIMPLE

Hah! Duh to me, then.
It looks like its future is bleak for high speed applications due to vibration which gives rise to noise and heat.
