  • How do I get Armorall Off My Dash?

    Hi Guys,
I'm looking at sticking some Velcro to the top of my dash so that I can Velcro My Magellan 330 Bracket to it for the Outback Adventures I go on as the Navman Doesn’t have the features and the Previous Owner Used Armorall all over the place even on the black bit on the back Step  which I have nearly come a Cropper a couple of times on already ops: I wondered if anyone knew of anything that will get Armorall off without damaging the dash or the back step? Alternatively I could get a Suction Cup Mount for the Windscreen to solve the Problem too! But I want to make the back step safe…….
    Cheers,

    Matt (WA)

I would suggest surfing over to the armorall website and contact the customer relations people via e-mail. The site may just have something on it, but try contacting them. You never know.
    cheers

        Hi Mt

You will have to find what the solvent is but make sure the solvent doesnt strip the pigment out of the dash.

          Hi Matt,
I just love armourall use it for all sorts of things, if you want to mount a sticky velcro or suction cup on a plastic interior fitting just gently rub the area with a rag soaked in Metholated Spirits works a treat, I have used it on many vehicles and no damage sustained. It should also work for your back step!

          Hope this helps

            Thanks Clifton,
Perfect that’s what I was after I wasn’t sure if I should use Metho or something similar. And that won’t damage the Dash or the Back Step
            :?
            Cheers,

                  Hi,
As MT Suggested I e-mailed Armorall direct and this was the solution to my problem thanks for all your Help/Ideas.

                  Matt

ARMOR ALL Protectant/ Multi Purpose Cleaner (Silicone containing substances)

How to remove from glass & clear plastic:

                  Prepare a mixture of
                  5 parts warm water,
1 part household/ cloudy ammonia and
                  1 part dishwashing detergent.

Using a large towel/ cloth (ensure the cloth is not dripping the solution) wipe this mixture on and be sure to turn the cloth frequently, this will ensure that you do not reapply the Protectant (Silicone) after it has been removed.

Don’t rub – this will just move the silicone around on the surface. Simply wipe in one direction once, turn the cloth, then wipe again, never putting the same part of the cloth back onto the surface …. This ensures that you do not re-apply the Silicone after it has been removed.
                  Cheers,

                  Matt (WA)

Interesting. I would have gone the eucalyptus oil myself... without knowing what the repercussion might be. ops:

Isopropyl Alcohol works a treat and removes most things including sticky residue. You can buy it at most chemists (Called rubbing alcohol - watered down 70%)
