Personally, I don't like the pricing structure for basic financial membership. Given the lack of commitment of many members (i.e. many single or no post members), it seems most won't want to pay, let alone be active contributors. Therefore, might it be better (if a fee is truly needed) to introduce a lower pricing structure? Many would easily part with $5-10 for basic access just to see key threads, and to contribute on a regular basis. A bit like buskers... better to get a few dollars from lots of people than charge an exorbitant entry fee.
Lastly, and almost ironically, I note that none of the proposed membership options include a Pradopoint.com sticker. This, in my view, should be a compulsory aspect of any financial membership benefit. This might provide the (non-guaranteed) 'warm & fuzzy feeling'.
Overall, my views remain unchanged on this subject although I appreciate the updates from Aaron and Piggy.ntp

My concern relates to the shrinking of the potential knowledge base, the fewer the membership, the smaller the PRADO representative sum of all knowledge. Any loss in membership is a loss that effects us all, including those who pay $55.00.
I pay for a server myself, I don't use it much and share the costs with a mate, I understand the issues in this area. However; $55.00 is a big slug for what seems like a knish TT market. How about a sweetner in the form of a members sticker, perhaps some discounts from the PRADO shop? Hell priority service for stickers would be a good deal, Piggy, you get my order a month back?
PS I don't use TT, WEB adds don't bother me and I do own a PRADOLast edited by peril; 28-02-2012, 06:14 PM.2008 Prado GXL D4D Auto with Prado Pack

I will be paying my membership too. I am a Tapatalk user, but I had no idea it reduced the advertising income of the forum.
I am a member of other forums. A photography one, which I am a financial member, and MySwag.
I understand the costs involved in running forums, and one of the disadvantages of a popular, growing forum is bandwidth. I know my photo forum has just had to move to another server as they had outgrown their old one...the costs had gone up accordingly.
So, if it costs me some money to stay here and participate and along the way help Aaron in running the forum, then I'll pay..

I pay $50 a year to be a member of the WA Cobra Car Club. For that I get a monthly newsletter, photos of my car on the website and a subsidised Christmas dinner if I attend in Perth. No forum, no on-line advice, no tech info, no market place. I think $55 is reasonable.Dave

Happy to support a great forum and a great community but I would like to see some further benefits come online in regards to discounts at like ARB, TJM etc, free sticker and PP card but I am sure these will all come online soon enough.
Paid and paid.

I don't mind paying, but I think the price is a bit steep. Lots of people paying $20 always works out better than a few paying $55. I am concerned that this price will turn a lot of people away and we will end up with a site that is a lot less value and input.Stephen Bloomer

I am a well known supporter of paid membership. Given its not mandatory though I want clearly defined benefits before paying.
Also, an important issue is now apparent. That is what happens with the conflicting needs of sponsorship monies for the GTG and the pp suppliers? For instance, we are looking at a major national sponsor that will offer a discount to all members to both get their business and offer discounts for attendees to get ready. Naturally they will contribute to the event in addition to the discount which WILL be advertised widely on the PP GTG web page.
(posted without consultation with other gtg2012 members) but basically correct.

I'm in...mostly to support a great forum, not for the extras (not a fan of TT). That said, I like the PP sticker idea (haven't managed to get one yet even though I ordered months ago).Ian
