Hey mate, these awnings are a good bit of gear. To be honest they are all much of a muchness. And for that price it is a great deal.

A colleague has an ARB awning and when he showed it to me, it looks very similar, if not identical to the Oztrail awning I got from BCF for $199. The material isn't proper canvas but more like a layer of PVC stuck to the cloth. If the current ARB ones are similar, then I would just get a cheapie, particularly if you won't be using it often.

        Hi all,

I live just around the corner from their factory/store and plan on dropping in this morning to have a look at their gear. I already have one of their winches and it is good. If the awnings look OK, I will probably pick one up as well. If anyone wants me to check anything of theirs out, just let me know.

A colleague just bought the 2.2m flat roof rack from them but he's got an LC80. From the pics, it looks like it comes with gutter mounts which is unsuitable for the 120/150. For me, I find that a 2m rack is just about right. 2.2m is too long. 1.8m looks pretty good too. I would go with the ally rack due to the lower roof weight limits on our Prados.

I was there this morning and picked up an awning, which looked pretty good to me, $169 for a 2.5 x 2m. I had a quick look at the racks and they looked OK, but I am after a low profile unit and these are higher profile, more like the ARB style. I think that all the ones he has now all have gutter mounts. He did say that he is getting in some new ones in soon that can be attached to cars with factory rails, these will be in steel and alloy and should be in by mid-late April.

I will drop in again early next week and have a closer look at the current racks and let you know.

It does look similar to the OZtrail, which i have recently bought, I love it.
I am having an extension made for it, hopefully it will be ready mid next week. I'll chuck up some pix when I get it.

They all seem to be much of a muchness, it seems to be the quality of the canvas that varies...

I got mine from Camping Mega Store in Somersby, nice an handy, just around the corner from work...

if you can get that for $169 clams do it . my arb , which is probably out of the same factory cost $300 . all these awnings are exactly the same fitttings , alloy profiles , the only difference is the colours of the awnings or the brand name . why pay $300 when you can pay $169 for the same product by a different badge

Thanks for the reply mate. If you don't mind me asking how are you getting it extended? Length or width?

The only difference with the awnings is in the quality of the bracket and fasteners for attachment to your roof rack. For example, with my Oztrail awning, the L-brackets are fine but the square head bolt that goes in the track at the back of the ally section is too short for me to fit a nylock nut on, i.e. there is not enough thread protruding from the nylon insert in the nut. Not sure if this is the same with the ARB ones.

I just taken delivery of tigerz11 awning and steel roof rack The roof rack looks well built and sturdy with gusseted brackets and good welds. Powder coating looks good also. $169 for awning $309 for rack and they combined postage to townsville at $70. Gotta be happy with those prices. Are their winches alright. Thats next on the wish list. Does anybody know if I'm restricted in winch size with the TJM bar. It sit a lot closer in than the ARB bar.
