  • Bad end to a good day out

Did the Border Ranges trip from the Dirty Weekends book yesterday, easy drive with beautiful scenery. I was with 2 other 4wd's and we stopped at the Natural Bridge in the Springbrook National Park to have a look. Parked the vehicles in normal parking area and returned after 20 minutes to find 2 of the 4wd's in the group had been broken in to. A handbag out of each car was stolen, plus the rear passenger window on each vehicle smashed. My daughters seat was covered in broken glass. Found a good company to replace the glass, PM me if you want the details.

I suppose a bit of a reminder to ensure valuables in the car are out of sight, especially in National Parks car parks.

    See pics below.

That totally sucks, unfortunately the lowlife scum (most likely backpackers) will be long gone, hopefully karma catches up with them.

Have to agree with you there, never had any issues around Brissie. I think being close to the Gold Coast could have also been a factor . My take on it, instead of robbing a 7 Eleven at Nerang, they have got a bit smarter and waiting patiently in cars at tourist parks waiting for their victims to leave.

There are theft warning signs in the more popular (read easily accessible) national parks in SE QLD where thefts have occurred. The general advice is to take valuable items with you when leaving the vehicle, or to keep them well concealed within the vehicle.

                  Bloody low-breeds.

Yeah I saw the bloody sign as I was going in to this park! Didn't even think about it, had the "it won't happen to me attitude" I suppose. Will be more cautious next time...

argh this sort of thing really gets me. More often or not the damage they do far outweighs what they steal.

I always double press my remote to deadlock the doors.. if they smash a window they can enjoy climbing in over the glass in my opinion..
