This not so much a comment on the tyres, but a question regarding the post by glen_ep, I agree that the 697 has wider vertical chanels to remove on road water, however I have always been told that it is the sipes that help give wet road traction, the 694 has a lot more sipes that the 697 therefore the 697 will probably have worse traction on wet roads but as mentioned earlier will probably not aquaplane as bad because of the deep channels.
Is this correct or have i been lead to believe a bunch of crap? (wouldn't be the first time)

Getting LT tyres in models where they are widely available in the US is a pain in the arse in general in Oz. When I was looking all I good find worth looking at here were the D694s, BFGs, Coopers, and Mickey Ts. Everything else was passenger only even though the LT equivalent could be sourced from the US. The D697s are available in LT construction in the US - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....2OWL&tab=Specs - but, as with tyres from other manufacturers where LTs are readily available overseas (Pirelli, Yokohama, Hankook), I won't hold my breath at being able to get the LTs here too soon.2009 Prado 150 D4D GXL with 265/70R17 Cooper AT/3 tyres, Max Trax, HR tow bar, Airtec snorkel, UHF and the usual recovery gear. On the list: cargo barrier, Bilstein shocks and King springs, deluxe winch bar, 10000lb winch, Lightforce 240 XGT spotlights, dual spare wheel carrier

I have got a set of the D697 and have done nearly 3000Km on them. Feel very much like the D694 , but they do not aquaplane as easily in the wet. Handle the puddles much better.
Very happy with them and as far as comparing a 2010 Prado GXL with D694 and 45000km and a new one with D697 and 3000km, well I am surprised how much the shocks have dropped off. Its noticeable enough that I will be getting some Bilsteins sooner rather than later. My old one hasn`t done much work, no towing to speak off, mainly hwy km and nothing serious off road.
I specifically asked for LT tyres and they told me they were.stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.

I've only heard good things about the 694 and it's good to hear people are happy with the D697 so far. I'm looking forward to having some decent tyres. Only thing I'm a bit worried about is on road comfort of the LT construction. Time will tell.
By the way, I just noticed this thread is posted in the wrong spot. Maybe it should be in a tyre section?2008 KDJ120 GXL

I recently replaced my 694's withe new 697's and was immediately impressed with road feel of new tyres, the 694's did 75k , if the 697's get anywhere near that I will be very happy. 697's appear quieter than 694's,
I guess only time will tell03 Grande, V6 AUTO.Red Metallic, Sovereign bar,Narva driving lights, GME uhf.
