  • Waeco CF50 Just keeps freezing. Whats wrong?

Hi all. Got a problem with my Waeco fridge. Its one of the older type that has the line of LEDs as the temp control indicator. No matter what setting I put it on it freezes everything. I set it on 1 yesterday and the thermometer I put in there still shows minus 5 today. Its not running continuously but it is running alot.
I have checked the emergency switch and that's still off. We have been using it constantly for the last 9 months as a fridge only. It has been off for the last 3 weeks while we were away but when we turned it back on, started to have this problem.
    Any Ideas?

sounds ike a dodgey thermostat. Will most likely need a fridge man

Thermostat, Not that expensive to fix really. I'd say that is what it is mine was doing the same thing and it was a crook thermo.
      Cheers.

thermostat shouldn't be to difficult to replace yourself.... Just a matter of getting a similar one with the same temperature ratings.

It is a common fault of this model, it is actually called the thermister, that puts the fridge into overide mode were it just constantly runs.

Googled this and got a bit of info including how to check the thermister using a multimeter. Seems its stuffed as it was reading no resistance at all. At least that'll be cheap to fix
edit: just realized I was supposed to disconnect it before testing the resistance. Oops. Oh well, getting checked out by the waeco fridgie tomorrow anyway.

I had the same with mine a few years back and it was red emergency switch playing up (full of dust) when it is in emergency mode it just goes flat out no temp setting. Maybe worth a look??

It's the thermistor they are a $20.00 plus fitting item and if your Waeco is close to being still in warranty they will probably fix it for parts only at a dealer.
