I second this. I have a Sar Major, as do a few of my mates, and we put ours through hell, and they have never missed a beat. The canvas on the Sar Major ones seems thicker and more durable than a few of the others I have seen... The matress is very comfortable as well. Only down side is there not cheap. Made right here in Adelaide too, which is good.Originally posted by D4Dforme View PostSar Major make a pretty good swag........I've had one for about 15 years and have used it heaps....
What ever brand you get make sure it has a waterproof PVC bottom side for setting up on damp ground, they are a lot tuffer/stronger than just plain canvas aswell.
Dan
I agree with the PVC bottom too, great for damp grounds.Cheers, Damo

I have 2 southern cross swags 1x single for daughter [currently being used to restrain the pouch as she covers from vet leg surgeury lol] and 1xdouble , i have had them now for approx 6 years ,can't fault the quality, i have added a roof insulation aircell blanket for a bit of extra comfort and cold insulation. The southern cross range of canvas gear although a little pricey ,you get great australian quality. I have had a southern cross bushmaster touring tent for 15 plus years and its durability and ability to stand up to any storm is fantastic, [this tent i am going to sell soon as our camping accomodation needs have changed .
The dome swag, whatever brand you go with is a better option with thar little bit of head room making it that little bit more comfy

Southern cross or the Burke and wills are both excellent, not cheap though.
If you want a cheaper but still good swag the jungle reef are good, out of the techni ice factory, I got myself one, then two more for my kids. Have camped in the high country right through to Simpson desert in them, for a cheaper swag I think they are great.

Have you looked at the JetTent Bunker - packs up small, keeps you off the ground - quality bit of kit.
For a review and plenty of pics see link below:
