Yes double points I know, but 100% sure I got snapped by a ford territory doing 110 (possibly 111/112 allowing for cruise control fluctuation) in a 100 zone. Now totally my fault, not on here raving about revenu etc wife was driving first and was getting tired while I was snoozing in a 110k zone on the pacific highway, so she gave me a nudge and said your turn, so she dabbed the brakes to cancel the cruise and pulled over. Did the swap over and off I went and hit the cruise again on the cruise control back to 110k. Saw the territory a mile away thinking no issues cruise set for 110k so coming towards it (probably 100metres away) I noticed the satnav flashing red (only had it for the bluetooth/hands free for the phone, new where I was going) thought whats that flashing for ?? noticed it saying 111/110 thought holy shit what zone am I in so obviously hit brakes (virtually on top of him by this point) which the wife jumped thinking what the hell, I said whats the speed limit along here, no sooner asked her the question then saw a sign for 100k not far past him, I thought your fu#&n kidding me, I said to the wife what speed were you doing, at that point she just thought what she had done. She hit the brakes to cancel the cruise but at the same time it was right where the zone dropped back to 100k but pulled up just past it when I took over so I didnt see it. By then i was spewing, saying to her (not blaming her) frig, we have used cruise all the way even in road work zones locking the cruise on the required speed, couldnt believe it. Then I thought shit, double points as well. Did a uturn (where allowed) went back past him then turned around again past where we swapped over drivers and yep sure as shit there was the 100k sign. So checked the RTA website (not while driving lol) and yes 3 point for 10 and over (sure thats what it would have got me at) so that will be 6 points, yea and over $200. Dont give a shit about the $$ its the points. Said there will be no leeway this weekend. Must have past 10 coppers within the first 3 hours of the trip the wife said, remember her saying "theres another one" hence why the cruise was used all the way. Last speeding fine was 11 or 12 years ago but have had a warning for an orange light in that time, 2 speeding fines all up this will make 3 plus driving trucks so not to bad I suppose in 27 years of driving. Anyway im presuming it will be in the mailbox in 2 to 3 weeks ?? Maybe earlier ?? have no idea, anyone out there remember or know of how long it takes ??? Cheers Steve

I got my speed camera fine in the mail in the first 7 days after the offence. I think I got snapped on a Saturday and got the fine on the following Thursday.

Were you using the satnav speed to set your cruise ie when the satnav said you were doing 110 did you set the cruise based on that or did you look at the speedo and set it based on what the speedo was displaying? The reason why I ask is if you set it off your speedo you will find on average it will overstate by 4 km/hr so you would have been doing less than 10 k over and you may not even get a ticket or if you do it will be for a lesser number of points. I know this doesnt answer your initial question but you may find you are ok.

na mate used the speedo but my speedo is out by about 2k the other way so when reading 110 im actually doing bout 111/112 (running original grandtreck tyres) and when i glanced at gps it was saying 111 but under normal i doubt you would never get pinged for 1 or 2 k overr the limit hence why i think it will be 111 in 100 zone cheers steve

Don't forget the police allow for an instrument error margin of something like 2km/h. I think the margin is a bit higher when traveling over 100km/h.

Na mate I doubt it, I dont think those blokes in the territorys give to much leeway. I reckon the more they fine the more they get in productivity. Had it been a copper sitting with his radar gun might have been able to explain what happened and may have given me a chance but maybe not. Im so pissed with myself for not checking what the limit was but it was a straight bit of road, double lanes with nothing around but a few other cars. when I say doule lanes I mean both going the same way I was, with scrub in the middle etc of the other 2 lanes coming the other way.........

Hi there William, mate Id be wrapped if it come in under the 10k but some how murphy's going to think other wise, Im sure of it lol. I didnt think they had any variance as there units are calibrated 100%, hope fully Im wrong and your right.......Cheers Steve

If you get the fine, you can try to write to the NSW state debt recovery office explaining what happened, there is a good chance you will only get a caution, with your good driving record and the circumstance leading to the fine.

The thing is they would not have set that Territory up if it was in a low incident area, they know it is a good turnover region thats why they are there.
Remember thay are a private opperation owned by Maquarie Bank so they will have a lower speedo error margin than HWY Patrol, its all about revenue, though they will disagree.

Yes Auss, as much as I dont like to rave on about revenue looking at where he was set up and the fact that their has been no accidents where he was located did piss me off of his location. As in the picture I posted up nothing around. It was 110 for god knows how long then dropped to 100then back upto 110. Obviously people who dont give a shit probably just keep on going through at 110k and they know it so hence whay they set up where he was. We were been so careful even dropping back to exactly 70k on say pennent hills rd, 80 at the start of the freeway (F3) where a few jump straight to 90 or even 110 but wife waited till over the line then hit 110 on cruise, all the road works she dropped to exactly what the sign posted speed was, any other time she may be 5 over but I even said to her dont go over by 5 just incase. For christ sake I even put a post it note on both our dashboards on wednesday night just to remind either of us to be extra carefull lol and it was me that got done in the end. Oh well shit happens as they say.

Can understand what you are going through, been there myself.
If there's one consolation, you do get a very nice photo of your rig.

I was going to say, you get a good picture of your truck though but was beaten to it.

I'd write the letter and if you get off you can then say well that 200odd bucks I can use extra on something.....

One of the only camera fines I got was on the way to the church for my wedding yes it was on purpose......

She got the big wedding I got a professional picture of my sports car...only thing is my mates dobbed me in to the new wife at the reception, well didn't that take some explaining during my speech
