LH / RH coil springs - why are they different ?

Hi,

I wanted to know if the left and right coils are of different tension?, if so, why ?

Not different in tension, but before installing, you should measure the rear coils and fit the longest one
to the drivers side of the vehicle.

Why the drivers side?
Given the 95 series aux tank is on the passenger side, I would assume the longer should go on the passenger side... (?)

You logic seems sound Glen. Just repeating what we have been told by some of the major spring suppliers.
Longer spring goes on drivers side.

I knew there was a reason why i sold my 90s,problem is the new one has power windows just great for drive thru maccas

The taller spring always goes on the drivers side.
