  • Prado owners in Canberra

    Hi everyone

Is anybody out there willing to get together and form a Prado owners club in the Canberra area. I know that there are a couple of other clubs here but a specific owners group may be more beneficial for our particular needs and wants.

    Regards

    M

          Can...brrrrrr...arans (freezing hole)

I can see this thread becoming a place for us to post up any specials or good deals we have got in the area, as well as plan a trip or too hopefully. It's hard enough having to pay a premium for fuel most of the time in the ACT, so this should be good to save a few pennies.

Bob Jane at Fyshwick have BFG A/T on special. I got 265/75 r16 for $315 a corner today. I spoke to Adam.

I can recommend Lonsdale Street Auto Electrics in Braddon for any autoelec work. They installed a new starter motor. Very thorough and talked me through it which I appreciate. Still charge like lawyers though, so quite competitive with the rest of ACT mechanics etc. lol

I also recommend Pride Auto in Fyshwick. These guys were very helpful when I installed my own winch. They have a good range of 4x4 gear too.

          Cheers

            Hi all,
I'm also based in Canberra and new to the whole 4x4 scene. Would be keen to participate in some local drives with other Prado owners. I purchased a 2000 V6 Auto approx 6 months ago and am very happy with it so far.
Reidy, thanks for heads up with the A/T's I am also in the market for BFG A/T and was contemplating the 265/75/16, will be interested in your thoughts once fitted.

              Hey eh,

Welcome to the team! They should be fitted up on Tuesday or Wednesday and I'll put a write up in my rig build up. I head up into the Brindabellas occasionally and it's a good place to learn how to 4x4. We'll see if we can get enough interest to organise a weekend in the future.

Looks like this post is dormant. Bit of a tap tap tap to see if anyone's still sleeping in here or interested in this idea. I'm a pretty new prado owner, 2011 GX (only mod apart from f*&^ off size bullbar on purchase was 7 seats)... so she's mine to sculpt and would love to get some ideas..first up racks/rooftop camping (no idea apart from online research)... will probably stick some old man emu's in, steps.

Hadn't seen this before. Bought my 2008 D4D gal last September on retirement. Spent heaps on it getting off road ready and did 4x4 traing with ST4WDC in February. Done a couple of trips with the camper and often go up to the Brindies. Happy for a couple day trips.

Hey guys yes the post did go dormant due to lack of responses. It would be dreat to keep it up to date as well as the suggestionon suppliers and businesses that people have foud to be useful and how they were useful. What I wouldnt like to see is negative comments either to busineses or individuals as well as being against forum rules it can build up intp a bun fight (we dont want or need that)

I no longer have a Prado but it doesnt stop me trying to be involved (i now have a 79 series V8 Single cab)

                        Regards

I would say that as he has a GX (no flares) that he has a GXL bullbar which is wider to suit the flares?
