I have indeed. I've picked up a Donaldson fuel filter kit to install on the truck shortly. It's a pre-filter kit to fit in line before the main fuel filter. From all reports they offer a quality alternative to OEM.
Best of luck.

In the link reida1991 provided above, it says the fuel filter is 11 micron
Hey Malcolm, this is an additional filter to install in series with the original filter, not a replacement. I want to know if Donaldson make a 2 micron filter to fit this base actually.
Roo, do you know what the fuel line size/diameter is on the 1KZ?

The Fuel filter in the P902763 kit which suits the 1KD-FTV engine is P550385 which has a micron rating of 6.
The Fuel filter in the P902764 kit which suits the 1KZ-TV engine is P505952 which has a beta rating of 20 which if like the filter above which also had a beta rating of 20 is a micron rating of 6.

P550588, product number of the 11 micron filter for the Low Flow kit which installs an additional filter assembly before the OEM filter. I understand that the numbers you mention above are direct OEM replacement units, of which I don't need. I'll be using genuine filters when I install my Low Flow kit, hopefully filtering out most of the crap with the Donaldson before the OEM. I'll plan to replace my primary OEM filter every 30 000 km with the Donaldson upstream.
Does anyone know if Donaldson produce a finer filter than the P550588 to use on the Low Flow kit?

Just curious here... but when u say "low Flow", what do u actually mean? are u going to be restricting the normal amount of fuel that is req'd to flow?
I would have thought u would need a filter that allows a high flow rate so there's no restriction at all.....

Its just the name of the kit, the unit flows 114 LPH so I don't think I'm going to have any troubles. Donaldson do High Flow kits for 550 CATs if you'd prefer that! Just have a look at the link I posted.

Reidy, to answer your question as above. 3/8" mate. Are you going to put on an extra filter/water separator system? Where are you going to mount the little beast?
The Roo.
Thanks Roo
Yeah, as above my old man bought me a Donaldson kit. I haven't considered mounting location yet, but I figure I'll squeeze it in next to the original fuel filter. Failing that, the firewall. Do you have any suggestions?

I don't know how long the Donaldson kit is. There's really only one place that I use and that's the firewall. Where the solid fuel line curves in there I usually use that spot near the intercooler. Obviously, you have to use a L shaped bracket for this. If your kit is small enough you may be able to install it straight onto the firewall with a spacer so it misses that lip like the Ryco water separators are.
It's a tight fit in there so make sure you plan it well.
Before you drill any holes, remove the windscreen wipers and windscreen panel to make sure you can get a nut on your bolts on the other side there. This has to be planned as well and don't forget to paint or rustproof the holes before putting in the bolts. I always use stainless steel for this.
Re route your new fuel hoses making sure that there is enough hose especially off the solid line so it doesn't kink. Make sure you also use the right hose for diesel fuel. Pump the plunger so that it goes hard and that will do the job.
Another thing you can do is to use the rivets with the threads in them. That saves you pulling off the panel and wipers, or though I do like to get rid of the filings as they do cause rust if left there.
Hope this helps, the Roo.
Good food for thought as usual
Cheers
