      ouch.

Recommendation 4 seems to be the biggest thing in my mind.

I've seen the way I and other people have driven vehicles when they're not your own.

The thickness of the spokes on the Avalanche does look a bit thin from the photos. The 120 GXL alloys (Speedy Grande) looks meatier and might be a better choice.

Should be a fifth recommendation; product test alloy rims on Sydney's crappy secondary roads. Harsh mining environs have nothing on our joke of a roads passing off as fit for traffic.

Parramatta Rd is the ideal test track.

I get your point, but you should see how and where we drive these rigs on site, although Prados are generally bosses cars, we get patrols and cruisers

edit, just had a look, vehicle concerned is a Hilux, so probably belonged to a fitter, in which case it's probably driven fairly hard too

Makes you wonder just how good aftermarket rims are compared to OEM.

Vehicles on mine sites are given a pretty hard time, I like the way they taped it off like a police crime scene. I cracked an OEM Ford mag hitting a pot hole on the road recently and the hole wasn't that big either, it's all about the actual circumstances.

Remindes me of an episode of one of those tv police shows rbt or similar where a bloke in stolen gxl cruiser ute ran over road spikes an then proceeded to drive on the flat rims untill all that remained was the wheel centres

Now I'm scratching my head. A few months ago I purchased a new set of ROH Trojans for a bit more bling, taking a set of STT muddies of steel rims. Been on a few day trips with the setup and happy with the new rims. In little over a week I'm heading out thru western NSW, channel country, Simmo, Central Aus and Flinders and the one nagging unknown was how would the aftermarket rims handle that. I've travelled from the Cape to Tassie and most places in between but always using the OE 120 series rims or 1400kg rated steel rims with not one wheel related drama.

To me, bad luck does get a helping hand from time to time and seeing what happened with the alloy above, I'm thinking of switching back to the tried and tested OE rims with my second set of all terrain ST/C's for this trip.
