bugger
I've used the towball alot. I might change that
Might have to change that? just for you info, on average 2 people die every year in Australia form snatching mishaps, most of those involve a tow ball travelling at approx 100mph. Never ever use the towball!
That picture is from a few years ago, it was in the Simpson from memory, someone being a good samaratan helping out a stranger, fortunately only panel damage on that occasion.

Ive put the snatch strap into where the tongue normally goes and used the pin going through where it normally goes to hold it in place and done that heaps of times with the old 90's hilux etc and havnt had an issue. Cant see this been an issue as you can buy the recovery hitch from say ARB that goes into the hole anyway which still uses the same force applied to it wether its direct from the strap or tongue..Have never used the ball on its own but........Cheers Steve
Yes AJ, I just got it sent to me via face book but I have seen it before else where but wasnt sure where. Goes to show how much force is behind it..........Cheers Steve
I think personally this is probably the best way to go ??

I am not to sure about that given the Nissan badge ,maybe need to find pic of a toyota version
New 2015 150s GX 5 seater with floor mats, towbar and a big wish list
Previously a 2004 120s 1KZ GX silver manual with stuff
before that a 1996 RV6 90S with lots of gear
I think personally this is probably the best way to go ??

I disagree, that is the easiest way to go, and will do the job, but fitting 2 rated recovery points, one on each chassis rail is in my opinion the best way to go. Also use a bridal with the 2 rated recovery points.
See the first page of my rig build for pics on how to do it.

No pics Steve but I have heard a few stories of the pin bending which cannot happen with the Recovery unit in the pics above. Never heard of a pin snapping but who knows.

well learnt something new
never new the towball would break like that
just thought the worst would be the strap coming off the towball so always keeped clear
I guess a recovery point just crept up the to buy list
pete
Its amazing how the tow ball can snap like that, but the snatch strap will stay in one piece...mmm.
I have wanted to purchase a recovery hitch, but my tow ball is stuck...
Anyone have any genius ideas on how to remove the tow ball, as mine is stuck, stuck real good I might add....
Tried a snatch strap from car to car and pulled with the pin out, sounds stupid I know, but not even that would pull it out... Tried banging it with a hammer to loosen it....Nothing...
Biggest problem is ignorance and the fact there are more people out there doing stupid things than people who learn from and share with forums. I have seen two other forums tonight running with the photo from the Facebook Page, so the more that see it will take on board the prospective dangers of using a towball. And this wasn't the only forum chatting about that Colorado ad which means awareness is there and maybe all of 'us' will keep each other learning. Cause AJ can probably tell us..... there is another to learn
Our 6 year old and 3 year old try their hardest to make sure there is no time or money for the other baby

I've got the hitch as well but like Andrew's idea better. Is there anything special about that spacer that keeps it off the tailpipe?
Cheers Jim.
