  • Can I drive around with this removed?

Hi guys, I have a rattle coming from behind the aircon vents in the centre console. Is there any issue with pulling the screen out and then going for a drive to locate the rattle? Obviously everything will be unplugged whilst the ignition is off but once the looms are unplugged, can I then start the vehicle?

    Cheers, Sam.

    1) To begin, ensure ignition power if OFF, then remove the clock panel - firmly grip and pull outward.

    2) Now you can see two bolts, these are securing the screen unit into place, remove these using a 10mm socket.

    3) Firmly but gently, grip and pull the entire screen and vent pod outwards.

I've driven around in the 120 series with the dash in pieces for weeks...
Not sure what the legalities of it are - but you shouldn't have any issues!

When I do something it normally doesn't take a while.

My brother drove his car sitting on a milk crate once. He had stripped it the interior and trim completely and was taking it to the place where he was getting it repainted. Would have been hilarious seeing him try and make up a story if a cop had pulled him over.
