New things I have learnt and experienced with my vehicle.

Just starting up a thread about things that you have learnt or just found out about your vehicle or just new things that you have experienced with your vehicle. I will start off with the following.

1. Ice on the windscreen. My vehicle experienced this for the first time in three years. I was in Alice Springs heading to Tasmania.

2. My scan gauge temp reading goes below 14deg c (live in Darwin). The lowest reading I got was -2deg c in Alice Springs. Colder than Tasmania.

3. Plastics etc shrink in the cold and make more noise than in the tropics.

4. I have a heater and the fan doesn't work until the engine gets to a certain temp unless you manually over-ride it.

5. Window fogs up quicker if I have the re-circ on instead of outside air. Don't have that issue up here

6. My alternator charge only gets to about 13.9 - 14vdc in Darwin. Down south when temps were near zero my voltage got as high as 14.5vdc

7. I get better fuel economy at 100-110kms p/hr instead of 130km in the NT

I learnt today that when u flick 150 auto to sport and goes into fourth gear u can then change up to 5th so it uses all 5 gears in sport mode.

Does make the auto easier to drive that way, Hutch.

Years of driving manuals was not doing my left hip and knee much good in city traffic with pressing the clutch pedal so often, especially the 60 series cruiser.

Not necessarily easier as I still drive it like an auto but just in sports mode vs normal, it seems to labour less and I actually think the economy around town is better.

Most climate airs do this so its not blowing cold air at you when you want it warm. Bet if you set the temp lower then outside temp the fan will fire up straight away. We have had a few vehicles with climate air and they all did the same thing as you describe. Problem with climate air was the wife, in our statesman she would jump in on a hot day (say 35/40c day) and wind the temp down on the controller to minimum (cold) told her it doesn't make the air come out any colder or faster then if you just leave in auto set point at 21c, the fan will roar its nut off and try and get the temp down to 21c as best it can...jeeeez........... It is slightly wider than I thought! Few speed stripes down the passenger side after a day out in the sticks, not too bad but noticeable in direct light. It was always going to happen, just feel bad for doing it to such a new and expensive car! I'm just glad I did it not the mrs! Time to get the polish out

If u r referring to the 150 then yes it is wider as in the 120 I could see my trailer behind the the car and in the 150 I can't.
